Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Flores, a barrio of Buenos Aires. He was the eldest of five children of Mario José Bergoglio, an Italian immigrant accountant born in Portacomaro (Province of Asti) in Italy's Piedmont region, and his wife Regina María Sívori, a housewife born in Buenos Aires to a family of northern Italian (Piedmontese-Genoese) origin. Mario José's family left Italy in 1929, to escape the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini. His daughter María Elena confirmed that their emigration was not caused by economic reasons. She is the Pope's only living sibling. His brother Alberto died in June 2010.

Today catholics and friends all over the world, wish the man of peace Happy birthday and God's blessings on him

Eternal Rock of ages...

Please bless Francis your son, whom you have called to lead the church on earth. Grant him the wisdom of Solomon as he goes about his daily activities. I pray that you bless him and keep him from the hands of the evil ones. Bless those of us who call him father, and one day may we all gather in your heavenly kingdom to praise and bless you.

Amen

Quotes from The holy Father

-- "An evangelizer must never look like someone who has just come back from a funeral." ("Evangelii Gaudium," Nov. 24, 2013).

-- "Gossip can also kill, because it kills the reputation of the person! It is so terrible to gossip! At first it may seem like a nice thing, even amusing, like enjoying a candy. But in the end, it fills the heart with bitterness, and even poisons us." (Angelus, Feb. 16, 2014).

-- "The perfect family doesn't exist, nor is there a perfect husband or a perfect wife, and let's not talk about the perfect mother-in-law! It's just us sinners." A healthy family life requires frequent use of three phrases: "May I? Thank you, and I'm sorry" and "never, never, never end the day without making peace." (Meeting with engaged couples, Feb. 14, 2014).

-- "Faith is not a light which scatters all our darkness, but a lamp which guides our steps in the night and suffices for the journey. To those who suffer, God does not provide arguments which explain everything; rather, his response is that of an accompanying presence, a history of goodness which touches every story of suffering and opens up a ray of light." ("Lumen Fidei," June 29, 2013).

Quotes from The holy Father (pope francis)

matthew 23 vs 9 - Jesus says call no man your father upon the earth for One is your Father who is God in heaven. Only God is the Holy Father (john 17 vs 11) Pope francis has been highly exalted as righteous before men but in God's sight he is an abomination. ( luke 16 vs 15).

Happy Birthday, May the Lord of the vineyard continue to strengthen you in wisdom as you shepherds His flock in a world that has lost the sense of God.

First of all, A happy birthday to the POPE.

You call yourself Prophet Udeme; do you actually knw who a prophet is. Where is your prophesy.

Apparently you have an issue with Catholics calling their priests and the pope, "father" . Let me quote that passage in its entirety for you, "But you are not to be called ‘rabbi,’ for you have one teacher, and you are all brethren. And call no man your father on earth, for you have ONE Father, who is in HEAVEN. Neither be called ‘masters,’ for you have one master, the Christ" (Matt. 23:8–10).

My brother in humanity don't cherry pick bible passages. This is a common error by protestants who fail to understand the context.

Have you read Acts of the apostles where Abraham is refered to as "our father Abraham" acts 7:2 or in Romans 9:10 where Paul refers to Issac as "father Isaac".

If you are to call no man father by your poor understanding of that verse of scripture then you may as well NEVER call your biological father "father".

So What Did Jesus Mean?
Jesus criticised Jewish leaders who love "the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues, and salutations in the market places, and being called ‘rabbi’ by men" (Matt. 23:6–7). His admonition here is a response to the Pharisees’ proud hearts and their grasping after marks of status and prestige.
He was using hyperbole.

This was said to show the scribes and Pharisees how sinful and proud they were for not looking humbly to God as the source of all authority and fatherhood and teaching, and instead setting themselves up as the ultimate authorities, father figures, and teachers.

Christ used hyperbole often, for example when he declared, "If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell" (Matt. 5:29, cf. 18:9; Mark 9:47). Christ certainly did not intend this to be applied literally, for otherwise all Christians would be blind amputees! (cf. 1 John 1:8; 1 Tim. 1:15).

Throughout the world, some people have been tempted to look upon religious leaders who are mere mortals as if they were an individual’s supreme source of spiritual instruction, nourishment, and protection. The tendency to turn mere men into "gurus" is worldwide.
This was also a temptation in the Jewish world of Jesus’ day, when famous rabbinical leaders, especially those who founded important schools, such as Hillel and Shammai, were highly exalted by their disciples. It is this elevation of an individual man—the formation of a "cult of personality" around him—of which Jesus is speaking when he warns against attributing to someone an undue role as master, father, or teacher.

This is what you see a lot in protestant churches where they cleverly call their General overseers "daddy" and avoiding the use of father. Isn't this hypocritical. Go to any protestant church and see how they elevate their head pastors , GO's etc.

I humbly hope you have been educated.

Is it just a coincidence that On his birthday, the USA and Cuba announced a readiness to share diplomatic relations, ending an almost fifty years feud? Both presidents praised Pope Francis for his efforts behind the scene. A man of peace indeed. Viva Papa. Happy Birthday Pope Francis.
