I Wish Buhari The Presidency by Nobody: 9:48am On Dec 24, 2014 |
For the past few days I have been reading the news as usual, only that this time, I have taken to doing it quietly. On the news stand Papa Buhari stands tall. Those who manage him rest him on a platform made from an integrity of a leader who abhors, detest and despises corrupt people and who is himself incorruptible. They say Papa Buhari is Anti-corruption personified, and I am not prepared to argue that so I concede. There is this diagnosis of corruption being Nigeria's most severe illness that has since gone notorious; to this diagnosis I again concede. Having conceded to the two assertions above, my wish for Nigeria is simple: Buhari should be president of Nigeria come 2015. But hey, what is the worth of a wish? Especially that of a poor, helpless, not connected and unemployed Nigerian youth. Desperate, willing and ready to wish anything, anytime and any day no matter how uninformed and stupid, as long as he feels it would cure that which sickens his nation. What has he to lose and what isn't there to gain? Truth be told, for Buhari, my wish for him is useless. It will not, and cannot take him to Aso Rock. Wishes take nobody nowhere. Not Aso Rock, not the villa- the seat of power of the most populous black nation in the world. There is a process, a well mapped out process, a straight way that leads people there. It is the process of electioneering. And the good news is that Papa Buhari is on that path, he is on course and he is within process. A quick reminder: Papa Buhari is the Presidential candidate of the APC for the presidential election of our dear nation, slated for 14th feb next year- few days away. All over the world PROMISES are inevitable during elections. Candidates for elective positions make promises- in US, in UK, in Russia, in China and in everywhere. They promise better living condition for the people, they tell the people what they will do, they make promises; they even place new promises on top previously made one.it is largely a thing of promise. These promises are vital. They are more important than a thousand of my good wishes for Papa Buhari. They are useful. Electorates count on them in deciding who to press fingers for. On this, Papa Buhari is not relaxed. He made some promises yesterday, this morning also, he is likely to make some tomorrow morning at channel TV, AIT maybe. For me, I need just but one promise from Papa Buhari and I will exchange my wish for a vote for him. Let him promise me he will truly fight corruption, that in doing so, he will start from his party the APC. That he will begin with a former governor of a famous state in the west who had to select his deputy for him, that self centred, self serving, selfish, avaricious and self styled leader of his party. And then move to the palace of our former Vice president whose thievery exceeds the boundaries of corruption, enlarging joyously into the realm of kleptomania. And then to one randy leaking mouthed hypocritical and incomprehensibl y corrupt serving governor of an oil rich state in the south. And then move to bayelsa to grab that other former governor, a textbook example of corruption, who recently has found solace in Papa Buhari's APC. And then move to... the list is endless. It is easier said than done. You can shout down the heavens from the outside, get inside and it is a different ball game. The greatest challenge of any political leader in power is that of balancing governance and politics. With the APC as Papa Buhari's platform, will he be able to do this? Your guess is as good as mine! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=905006396196597&id=100000617346242&refid=8&_ft_=qid.6096313337291257732%3Amf_story_key.4355448376808591932&__tn__=%2As |
