|Dear Pastors In Nigeria by Orikinla(m): 11:53am On Aug 14, 2006|
I greet you by the grace of God in Jesus Christ our Lord and Messiah.
I have joined the Deeper Christian Life Bible Church, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Assemblies of God and others to testify of the good news of the gospel of our Saviour Jesus Christ since 1988 to date, both in Lagos and on Bonny Island, Rivers State. I was baptized in the Deeper Life on December 1, 1990 when I was living in Lagos where I became the house fellowship captain and visitations team leader.
I believe we are all educated and enlightened enough to understand what I am going to address in few words.
Please, do you know about Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and Austria?
Please, do surveys of all the churches in each of these countries and do a survey of the number of churches in Nigeria.
Then, analyze the GDP and GNP of each of them and compare them to Nigeria.
Analyze the living standards in each of them and compare them to Nigeria.
Analyze also the level of corrupt practices in each of them and compare them to Nigeria.
What are their resources and compare them to Nigeria.
We preach and preach and preach in a million and one churches in every nook and cranny of Nigeria as the so called Christian churches are competing more for the Guinness Book of Records than for the Kingdom of God on which of them has the biggest church building or largest congregation as if the population of church goers is the indicator of true Christians.
We also preach our own theology more than we preach the truth of Jesus Christ.
One church preaches that you cannot receive Holy Ghost Baptism except you have been first baptized by immersion in water as if the church does not know about Cornelius And His Household?
PETER COMMANDS THEM TO BE BAPTIZED,
Were they baptized by immersion in the swimming pool of Cornelius or by sprinkling water on their bowed heads?
We see all the social and economic inadequacies, inefficiencies and failures in Nigeria as spiritual problems caused by both visible and invisible evil demons and spirits instead of saying the truth that our corrupt government has failed to utilize our vast resources for the common benefits of all Nigerians, to create good jobs for the millions of school leavers and graduates who are now applicants and millions of them have been forced to do odd jobs instead of practicing what they studied in schools. And instead of asking them their academic or technical qualifications, many fake pastors or ministers lie to them that household wickedness, marine spirits and other generational curses are holding them in bondage from getting their dream jobs, dream wives and even visas to flee Nigeria.
To get a good job in Nigeria, you need to fast and pray and if you get it, it is a miracle!
To get a good spouse in Nigeria, you need to fast and pray and if you get one, it is a miracle.
To get a good accommodation in Nigeria, you need to fast and pray and if you get it, it is a miracle.
To even pass your examinations in Nigeria and gain admission into primary school, secondary school or post-secondary institution, you need to fast and pray and if you get it, it is a miracle.
Lest I forget to get a Visa to flee or travel out of Nigeria, you need to fast and pray and if you get it, it is a miracle.
Pastors and ministers even prescribe the dosage of fasting and prayers depending on what they assume is the gravity of your sickness, disease or problem.
These erroneous and ambiguous sermons have only led millions of the ignorant masses astray and worsened the social, economic and academic state of Nigeria to make Nigeria become one of the poorest countries in the world.
A pastor says sexual immorality causes poverty and millions of pious Nigerians who are even Christians live in abject poverty.
Then, when they complain to their pastors, the fake pastors will now claim to discern the generational curses or household wickedness to blame for their poverty. And will not interview the poverty-stricken members of their church to know their real economic, social, academic and technical causes of their poverty. Instead they lie to them to hope for miracles of dream jobs or windfalls to make them rich overnight.
Churches have become fund raising centres or NGOs competing for the best tactics to extort money from both members of their congregation and invited guests including pagans, crooks, rogues and Moslems.
More millions have been spent on competitions to build the best magnificent church buildings than on evangelism or on the economic empowerment of the economic handicapped poor and needy among us.
Most churches hate to see beggars and paupers coming to their church on Sunday.
The more posh cars and jeeps they see parking in front of their churches the more elated they are and they praise and shout more "Hallelujahs!", because the sight of these posh cars and jeeps is the evidence of the miracles of prosperity God is doing for their churches. And they fail to see the corrupt government officials, shylock landlords, wicked employers who pay their poor employees meagre wages and come to bribe their pastors with fat offerings and tithes and ask for dedications for their new cars and jeeps bought by cheating and exploiting the poor and needy ones they employ and by fraudulent means. And the churches expected to alleviate the suffering of the common man will give him excuses and lies on how the sin in his life is the cause of his poverty.
Even if he repents, they will say repentance is not enough, that he must undergo 7 to 70 days fasting and praying for deliverance before he can be saved from his perpetual poverty.
I wonder when Jesus Christ gave such excuses?
Let us all stop deceiving ourselves and Nigerians and tell the ignorant masses the truth as Jesus Christ preached and practiced by his exemplary life and not competing for who is going to be the pastor of the most magnificent church building, largest congregation of owner of jeeps in Nigeria or Africa.
It is even easier to see God than to see many of the celebrated General Overseers of the churches in Nigeria. You have to book an appointment weeks in advance. And I don't know how many poor members of their congregations the GOs have been humble enough to visit and spend some time to know how they are faring?
We must realize that the social, political, economic, academic and other similar woes plaguing Nigeria today are not caused by evil spirits, carry-over generational curses, marine spirits and demons but by the hypocrisy, kleptocracy, cheating, greediness, wickedness, bribery and corruption of most Nigerians in both the private and public sectors.
If you are threatening the poor masses with your competitive doctrines and continue to keep them in ignorance of the truth, remember what Jesus Christ said:
"Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves" (Mark I 1: 17).

I feel you, Orikinla. If the Church in Nigeria were to be faithful to God, this country would be great. Righteousness exalts a nation, but even the Nigerian church is corrupt. Churches are more concerned about taking over, as if Christianity is a competition. Different churches should help and love one another and not see themselves as rivals. If the church spent the resources to disciple members, Nigeria would be a greater nation.
Personally, I believe that the church has failed or is failing Nigeria. Pastors would rather cart away large sums of money from Nigeria to open branches all over Europe and America, when the North of Nigeria is largely unchurched. Why can't they use that money to build free schools and hospitals in the North? I believe that ppl in the South would be encouraged to give more if the church can transparently use the money to develop the North, at the same time furthering God's work there.
Jesus' commission was to reach "Jerusalem, Samaria, all Judea and everywhere". But Nigerians want to reach everywhere first. The mission field in this country is vast enough, why do they keep sending missionaries abroad?

Thanks for reading and understanding the message.
I have been an insider and that means I can say the truth without bias.
I was once in the office of the GO of RCCG as an assistant to his Confidential Secretary in Lagos, Nigeria. And I was also once a senior insider in the Political Campaign Office of Bamanga Tukur and have seen it all.
The issues you have raised in your suggestions will be published and addressed in my next book "Your Excellency You Are A Liar" to be released before the 2007 elections. I am actually prepared to take on the hypocrites and kleptocrats in power. God is preparing me for the coming challenges.

Though this mail is along time but it looks like orikinla has question that I had and so many people still have. The greatest deception is that people believe that God is a house Help.
because we Africans are very Classy not Natural Racist we tend to beleive that the White man worship is what gives Him Superiority. We forget that We African we World leaders but how come we have been thrown aside?
The reason is in the bible We had felt our gods were greater than the Must high. God gave us to evil spirit by which it has almost made us foolish as though we were never Wise(timbuktu).
He sent the Ethiopian Eunuch but the Gospel did not spread. The Lord sent many other people we killed some, some died yet some came with false Religion. God has been merciful to us Africans.
before we were scatered all over the Land of Africa We were puffed to each other and we killed one another as we still kill today. We gave ourselves tribal names so that we could easily eliminate each.
Tell me why in africa alone we have so many Languages? Only in Nigeria Alone we have over 300! Some will not marry into any other. The power of satan is great in Africa unless we destroy our gods by ourselves and abolish the Traditional rulers there is no way The lord can do his power to transform The nation. Some will say that oh in Asia that there are gods but if you look closely how they Worship their gods you will wonder.
please I am not concerned about the Development of buildings and wealth if that is why Jesus came then we are all doomed.

Proof of the saying => "Just as the body without a soul is dead, faith without works is DEAD."

Without any contradictions, I only have one word for you about your pains concerning the position of the present day Churches.
Please understand that; The reality of the fake is a genuine evidence that the original exist.
And this is where your duties comes in just as Paul said in
1 Thess 5:21
"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."
What's happening presently is no surprise to God, they are all signs of the perilous times where many are bound to be deceived if not careful.
The duty of you and I hereby goes far more than speaking it or writing it in journals alone, we must try live our words and be good examples in deeds no matter the influencing temptation that comes tomorrow.
Many never know their own potentiality of corruption until they are tested with power.
I want to believe that your journey from the spiritual corridors of RCCG to the political veranda of Bamanga Tukur surely wants you to link the two together to the glory of the living God. Peace!

God bless that Orikinla guy. I don't know what ever came of him or his book but I pray that God continues to progress him in truth.
I have some questions too. If there were no christianity in Africa would things be any different. It is very easy for a certain contingent to blame religion for africa's woes, but even if we were still practicing traditional religions would it be any different. What if we were totally without religion would it be any different. I think not.
I think that detruth hit the nail on the head with this verse:
Africans are Lazy people. full stop. That is the beginning and the end of the problem. Not just lazy to exert themselves physically but also lazy to think. We want to be spoon fed. Yet we are told to Test All Spirits. We are told to Prove All Things. It is not enough to have a pastor dictate things to you. When I engage with people and I try to get them to think about their situation it is like I don't know what I am talking about just because I am not waving a magic wand and pronouncing ready made solutions. Is it not the fact that empty barrels will always make the loudest noise. The ones with the swagger and the confident rhetoric, shouting into the microphones will always attract the most of those Lazy people. Yet those with anointing are rarely ever like that. For the fruits of the spirit is Love Joy, and Peace. as well as the attributes of gentleness, kindness etc. Against these there is NO law.
But my people are lazy. Intellectually lazy, spiritually lazy (if such a thing is possible), Physically lazy. We are looking for soundbites and easy formulas. The demand is there, all that is required is for the fake pastors and churches to provide the supply. And till this day the supply still has a long way to go to saturate the demand. In many ways you cannot actually blame these conmen. They are just following the market forces.
But we know as it says in Galatians 6:5 Each man will have to bear his own load.
the verse before that says let each one assess his own work and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbour.
It is not your associations or the church you go to or the pastor that you follow that you will be judged by. You have to work out your own salvation for yourself. Of course we can encourage each other, give each other testimonies and upbraid each other, but we have to work and work and work hard on ourselves. God has given you a spirit to Guide you in all things. Use it. It is not the preacher that will guide you, or spoon feed you. You too, you are a priest and belong to the priesthood of Christ. Of course some are leaders by anointing but that doesn't mean that you must relinquish all your ability to reason to them.
May the peace of God be with everybody here.

Religion they say is the opium of the masses and of course Nigerians are very high on this opium. Apart from Nigerians being lazy and not being able to read their bibles to understand what God truely requires of them , they have to depend of these pastors to read and interprete the word of God to them, as such the pastor manipulates God's word and tells them what he wants them to hear / beleive. And that is why some munguns on another thread i was reading say they would rather watch a relative die than not give their money (tithe) to their pastor which is not even required of them as christians in the first place but their pastors have manipulated them to believe it is a requirement for making heaven. A lot of people are "perishing for lack of knowledge". I would say this loud and clear the CHURCH AS FAILED NIGERIA the church needs to repent and turn it's way back to God. Even the few genuine pastors are turning a blind eye to all this scam that is going on and if you talk they would accuse you of talking with a carnal mind, or you lack understanding or even go and label you as the anti-christ. Again Nigerians have not learnt to distinguish between the word of their pastor and the word of God, or between the church they attend and the concept of being a christian. As far as i am concerned a lot of so called christians are idol worshipers (they idolize their pastors) even on this nairaland i have seen so many posts celebrating/ glorifying pastors, it is all so nauseating. Personally anytime i see a church advert, be it poster, billboard or flier and i see the picture of the host pastor (somtimes with his wife) i get very irritated. what has their picture got to do with the message they are preaching This is a perfect example of self aggrandisment and personal branding and promotion. A lot of people don't even realize this is wrong ( becos it is now so common) such pastors are glorifying and promoting themselves/ church instead of focusing on christ
|Re: Dear Pastors In Nigeria by KunleOshob(m): 1:34pm On Jun 25, 2008|
I am really sad for christianity our Pastor are going to lead several people to HELL, Most of our pastors need to repent and truely give their lives to christ.
