The 2014 Nigerian National Confab
1. It was organized by the present government, the National Conference was convened to serve as a forum to discuss and resolve Nigeria’s constitutional challenges.

2. There was 492 delegates at the Conference,
made up of the ethnic nationalities in Nigeria,
political representatives, professional groups, civil society groups, among others.

3. Delegates from Nigerians in Diaspora based in regions including America, Europe, and the Middle East, also took part in the conference.

4. The National Conference included memoranda from the public – meaning that
issues raised by the public will also be addressed at the proceedings.

5. It took place in Abuja.

6. The Conference lasted for 4.2months (It
commenced on March 17th, 2014).

7. The Conference was chaired by retired
Justice Idris Kutigi.

8. Nominations of all delegates were conducted by stakeholders in each of the groups being represented.

9. Many Nigerians have questioned the relevance of Conference, including ex- Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu.

10. Main Committees at the end included: Devolution of Power Committee, Political Restructuring and Forms of Government National Security; Environment; Politics and Governance; Law,Judiciary,Human Rights and Legal Reform. Social Welfare; Transportation; Agriculture; Society, Labour and Sports; Public Service; Electoral Matters, Foreign Policy and Diaspora Matters, Land Tenure Matters and National Boundary. Trade and Investment Committee, Energy; Religion; Public Finance and Revenue Generation, Science, Technology and Development Immigration.

11. We voted whether the outcome should be subjected to National Assembly or Referendum.

13. Is it not time to effect those changes
Because I noticed that here in Nigeria, things are only changed in the book, signed & locked in the cupboard but the mind of the people are not changed.

14. Why did we waste such resource and time without achieving the original purpose
