The problem with the Nigeria army is that the wrong people are recuited into the army. Most of them have low moral and don't want to fight. They probably join the army so that they can oppress "bloody" civilians. I read in a thread on nairaland that it took only 50 boko haram terrorist to attack Mubi town of over 1000 soldiers and the soldiers abandon the city without fighting back. Most of them don't have passion to fight for Nigeria and they only got into the army because their family members or god father is a senior military official or top politicians. I hope Nigeria army learns from its mistake and after boko haram is defeated the Nigeria army start recruiting its military officers solely by merits.

The problem they fail to understand is if this dismissed pple choose d other side and aline with boko haram to harm us......with their vast exprience, bokor haram can offer dem good money and take revenge on their unfortunate dismisal......GOC...think deep and make use of their talent to combat BKH not to join dem

What's going on in Nigeria military? 203 trained but unemployed soldiers will be more formidable than 1000 boko boys or 1000 armed robbers. Gej should watch the people he claims to be C-in-C. undecided

They refused a direct order, as a consequence their weapons and uniforms were taken from them and they were ordered to stay in the barrack in maiduguri, they disobeyed the order and travel out of maiduguri without permission.

What were they expecting from the series of disobedience to direct orders? A pat in the back?
Even in boyscout there is punishment for disobedience.

Nija Generals na wao , General go sit down for Abj or PH dey organize battlion for Maiduguri like say them they play video game, won't care to equip the foot soldiers. Check world powers like U.S, France, e.t.c regardless of how good they train their soldiers they still provide them with equipments ,better chain of command on the war front. To give u glimpse of what I mean watch these movies, black hawk down or the battle of Mogadishu.

Its true these are movies but are not far from reality.

Nice one. The highest these dismissed soldiers will do is to join boko haram. We know them. They are apc members who are out to pull down GEJ. They are even lucky to be dismissed.

The army dismisses them and then they become menace to society when they have nothing to fall back on. The society at large still suffers.

What do you expect from soldier's that think they were trained to become audley's/errand boys to their c.o's. Some even think brutalising civilian's is what they were been trained for.
All soldier's are trained to kill and fight war's. Its important that these guys understand their duty and what rules they swore to abide by. Nigerian army is not a conscript army were folks are forced to join. Even if they were given cutlasses or conveyed in keke napep . It's important they give their all and destroy the enemies of our dear country and pay the ultimate price if need be. Because even the most equiped fighting force that lacks the will to fight is a disaster waiting to happen when its meet a highly motivated foe that does'nt even have half of its equipment or training. Which is exactly what is happening to our army in the North east.
best comment so far, a typical patriotic Nigerian.

They keep sending these soldiers on a suicide mission and yet punish them when they refuse? Help is on the way... In 6 weeks the clueless one will be out of office and justice will finally prevail
You're definitely not a girl and you're a Boko Haram member. You registered only yesterday yet all ur comments are anti-GEJ, with a little passion for Boko Haram and Buhari. Thief!

You owed someone for 5 months and refused to provide them with support equipment, to cap it all, you dismissed them and we're planning to eradicate terrorism. I fear for Nigeria.

Yes

Support equipment include weapons other than the assault rifles: tanks, RPG, etc
. Exactly. And thanks. Has it occurred to anyone that this was intended to be a covert operation? Tipper, instead of regular Army trucks was going to be used not because the Army are short of trucks, but because it serves as a form of disguise. The idea was to get behind enemy lines covertly, using the element of surprise, and exterminate them from within. Tanks,RPGs and the rest would make an advancing unit very obvious. Wars are not fought with weapons alone. Strategies, techniques and intelligence are key. Besides,as a soldier you are obliged to obey any order weather you like it or not. Simple.

Jonathan has destroyed the army. People do not yet realize what evil agenda this lazy watery man is out to play out in Nigeria. The army is one hundred years old and one clueless man is out to destroy it.
Na Buhari handiwork. As if boko haram is not enough, the same Buhari and its followers are promising another blood bath come Feb., this year and blame GEJ.

No one should pity these soldiers.Maybe they need to go and re-read their oath of allegieance in order to appreciate the level of their offence
Justice demands fairness, which oath? If one of them is my kid,I will gladly welcome him home. How can you send soldiers to the war front without adequate weaponry? Some thing boko haram cannot even do to their fighters. What is wrong with Nigeria, why do we always do things the opposite and expect good results,Iraq,Syria,Libya,Pakistan have been in wars but you will not hear this kind of news. Mind you our soldiers are good, they have never shied away from their responsibilities but the complaints are always lack of weapons and equipment and yet billions are budgeted every year. The high command should be ready to dismiss more as only cowards will go to war with bare hands against well armed groups like bh. Patriotism my foot.
