Spirituality: Four Aspects Of Human Conduct by AlBaqir(m): 1:21pm On Jan 07, 2015
In "Misbau Shari'a," Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) is reported to have explains "al-Ubudiyyah (servitude to God)". This has different aspects and not just worshiping God, as in Salat, fasting etc but also we have to take into consideration the four aspects of human relationships everything.

al-Ubudiyyah (servitude to God) is a sort of actions we display within ourselves - whether this action is in the heart or manifests outside with our limbs, tongue, or relation to people etc.

Imam Jafar as-Sadiq summarized al-Ubudiyyah as how we treat everything. We may treat things as 'servant of God' or 'who rejects God', as 'grateful or ungrateful to the Creator' etc.

This four aspect of Human relation or interactions can be categorized into:

* Relationship or Treatment of God, our Creator (Muamalatullah)

* Relationship or Treatment of ourselves (Individual within himself) (Muamalatu Nafs)

* Relationship or Treatment of people vis-a-vis creations (Muamalatu khlaq)

* Relationship or Treatment of the life of this world (Muamalatu Dunya)

************

1. Relationship or Treatment of God, our Creator (Mu'amalatullah)
The way we treat God, in this sense is by being grateful to Him, remembrance of Him all the time, worship of Him, obey His commands etc.

By reflecting deep into this aspect, man falls short in his treatment of God the way He truly deserves. However, the root of servitude to Him is that sense of humility in the heart which stems from gratefulness and appreciation which in turn results in love and bondsmanship ('Abd) to God. Not an 'Abd (servant) which is forced to be an 'Abd (for one motive or reason or the other) but a voluntary 'Abd (servant).

Imam 'Ali (as) on this aspect, declares "O my Lord, 'it is my dignity to be your servant'"

2. Relationship or Treatment of ourselves (Individual within himself) (Mu'amalatu Nafs)
This is Man's attitude inside himself like :Reliance on God, patience, forbearance etc.

3. Relationship or Treatment of people vis-a-vis creation (Mu'amalatu khlaq)
Kindness to people, generosity, truthfulness, trustworthyness etc.

4. Relationship or Treatment of the life of this world (Mu'amalatu Dunya)
Many a time man partially or completely forget the first three aspect during the pursuit of the life of this world. Indeed, the life of this world is but a deceit and a mere amusement with short span, Quran says.

Interestingly, the First Relationship or Treatment (i.e of God), if solidified can easily be reflective and guide towards other three aspects of Relationship or Treatment.

What Is The Best Relationship or Treatment Of Allah
Man's wishful aspiration has always been to get closer to the Supreme Being, the Almighty as if He has put a barrier between Him and us. Reality however is that, man do not make proper efforts because wishful aspiration is not enough.

It is obvious man has placed several obstacles between himself and his Creator. Obstacles like sins in various form, disobedience, laziness or non-challant attitude towards Knowing Him and His rites etc.

Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (as) in explaining this Best way of Relationship or Treatment of God mentions seven (7) principles. Fulfilling these 7 principles, one will be qualify to be a true, good and sincere 'Abd (servant) as Allah qualified for example prophet Ayub and Sulayman, "Nihmal 'Abd - what a good servant (he was)".

These are as follows:

1. Fulfilling His Rites

2. Observing His limits

3. Appreciation of His gifts

4. Contentment with His decrees (ar-Rida bi qadahi)

5. Sabr ala balahi (Patience on His tribulations and tests)

6. Keeping His respect

7. Longing to 'see' Him.
