President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday said his administration has fought corruption more than other past administrations in the country, asking the opposition All progressives Congress, APC, to tell Nigerians how it would tackle corruption if voted into power in the country.

Jonathan spoke in Enugu while flagging off his second term re-election and governorship campaign at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.

The South East flag- off rally attracted a large crowd of party supporters from the five south east states of Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi States.

The President, however, tongue lashed the presidential candidate of the APC, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the former head of state wanted power to throw people into jail as was the case in 1983, when he threw into jail, Igbo politicians like the former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, the former governors of old Anambra and Imo States, Chief Jim Nwobodo and late Chief Sam Mbakwe respectively among others out of sheer wickedness.

His words, ‘’Chief Alex Ekwueme; Sam Mbakwe were all thrown to jail by Buhari. Chief Jim Nwobodo was jailed 301 years before the successive administration released him. Corruption is fought by blocking loop h***s where public funds are looted from.

“We are fighting corruption through Information Commun-ication Technology,ICT. Our method is technology driven. We have changed the way we do government businesses. The fertiliser distribution scheme, which go directly to farmers is a key example.

“We have also modernised the system of salary disbursement through technology. This is one of the ways we are fighting corruption in the system. You do not fight it by locking people in Kirikiri and closing down their businesses. That is why the economy collapsed under Buhari’s watch.

Throw them inside America embassy for them to enjoy their loot inside united state of America.
What stops people from corruption is the consequences not what's put in place to block it, because lope holes cannot be totally eradicated in any establishment.

Institutions should be made strong not individuals.

This your ''fresh air'' ideology keeps getting worse by the day, and makes no sense at all.
Don't be too scared sir, hopefully GMB won't throw you in jail when he assumes office in May, since we now know through your transformation agenda that corruption is not stealing.
Presidential confusion at its peak!

Tell that illiterate and his supporters

Corruption is best fought systematically

A change of system or its operations can make corruption near impossible if not impossible to thrive

Its a shame Nigeria before GEJ has churn out so much educated illiterates who now champion the motto of strong personality instead of systems that can be xray easily by the citizens cool

ICT doing it in the fertilizer segment and salaries of staff

GEJ till GMB passes his common entrance exam

KAI Buhari

Go back to school

GEJ has apparently responded well to APC. I can imagine that all his critics in the opposition are taken aback because GEJ's responses are totally unexpected. But he warned them a few days back that he will expose what the past leaders did not do. Even me I am pleasantly surprised. The biggest problem that Nigeria suffered is having individuals like Gowon, Murtala, OBJ, Buhari etc. decide her affairs. These are people who have no vision of their own about governance. History will put them where they belong as the scourge against nationhood. It is true GEJ has not achieved as much as we desire. However he has communicated in strong terms what he has done and will continue to do in the duel against corruption. His approach is modern and aligns with best practices all over the developed world. To me he has made Buhari look very ordinary. But Buhari is actually a very ordinary man!! Just that in this country it is the vile forces that define quality for the rest.

Don't twist facts. The president only said he will not throw people into jail arbitrarily without due judicial process. He further said that anybody convicted legally will go to jail. The best and most effective way to fight corruption in Nigeria is to block possible avenues and loopholes and that's what Jonathan administration has been doing. A clear example is the introduction of authomated payroll processing, an innovation that brought about elimination of ghost workers from Federal Civil Service.

..yeah, you fight corruption with "more corruption"! i.e douse an inferno by flooding with gasoline. Laughs
The countries with the toughest stance on corruption impose the stiffest penalties.

If I am not wrong, GEJ us saying that the best way to fight corruption is to give the culprits National (dis)Honors!

Let us all meet at the polls in February.

Change, we all want and that CHANGE; we will get.
