Buhari's Past Actions: Ways To Remedy It And Move Forward by Samchelsea(m): 10:13am On Jan 10, 2015
We all know that our past actions may one day make or mar us in the future, this statement is synonymous with General Muhammad Buhari as he goes into the forth coming polls to seek Nigerians mandate to rule again.
One thing for sure is that as a military ruler then he may have had the intention of restoring Nigeria to its rightful place hence the coup which he used to assume power, having done so he did clamp down on those he felt would ferment trouble for his government by jailing them, in terms of the economy he tried to put in place but again he had his flaws.
Most of the actions he took had its own negative and positive side, the negative side is what the opposition are using against him and the positives are what his party are trying to sell to the Nigerian populace, eventually he was overthrown and since then he has remained on the sidelines of Nigerian politics, except the time he served under the Abacha regime which also has its own merits and de-merits. I for one expected that at this critical period he should have gone on a drive to correct the perception about him, if truly he can't apologise for truncating the then democratic government so as not be called a weak man he should atleast try to apologise for his other actions which he took by mistake...e.g apologizing to the families of those he jailed wrongly and some economic actions he took and this he should do in a press conference which he would clear his name for good and endear his name to Nigerians still judging him with his past actions, he shouldn't leave all to his media team to help him correct this, he has to take the bull by the horn once and for all.
As Nigerians go to the polls they are really divided on which to go for, a candidate that has been around for 4years plus or one who has ruled the county before, at the end of it all we can say is may the best man win because most people's mind are already made up
