Advice To Undergraduates And Aspirants...get Things Going, Don't Waste Your Time by milestonejnr(m): 10:29am On Jan 19, 2015
It is never too late to start getting ready for the future you often dream about, but the earlier the better. You may be saying to yourself you still have time, but the sad news is that time flies and waits for nobody; the saddest is that you can never recover any time wasted.
H. Jackson Brown Jr. said "Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller,Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Theresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson and Albert Einstein." - They are the world's great achievers.

My intention for writing this post is to pass on a message mostly to undergraduates and those that aspire to become one someday. Even if you are not either of them, I believe you will get something out of this post.

Below are things you should start doing as student ahead of time.

1. Participate in advancement programs: Try attending programs like workshops, symposia, excursions, conferences and seminars. It isn't a bad idea at all. This is indeed a benign idea to adopt since you broaden your knowledge when you attend them. You are likely to know things you may not know from reading on your own or from lectures.
2. Study smartly: Most people just read to pass their exams and after that, they have no business with all they have read before the exam. I believe reading to know is better because you may need the knowledge sometime in the future.
3. Make friends: In the world today, it is no longer what you know but who you know. Pythagoras is right with what he said - "Friends are companions on a journey, who ought to aid each other to persevere in the road to a happier life". Friendship can make you attain a height that wouldn't be achievable if you tried climbing all alone. You should also break through age apartheid; be friends even to those older than you, they can be your mentor.
4. Get some skills and also improve on the ones you already have: "Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together" - Vincent Van Gogh. It is indispensable to acquire skills that are relevant to your course of study. this can make you outstanding in the midst of your mates, competitors, counterparts etc. The importance of acquiring skills can not be overemphasized. You can even make some cool cash out of it as a student but that depends on the skill you acquired.
5. Make good use of your social media: With these social media, you can meet people with like interest with you, engage in discussions and can even find solutions to some of your problems there. Refrain from what may be detrimental or mar you personality now or even later in the future. Posting of explicit picture is trending now of which are done by girls mostly... please desist from such.
6. Know yourself and take right decisions: It is never a good thing to be pliable all the time, it is important that you make your own decisions some times in your life. You know yourself more than any other person do, know what works for you and go for it. You cant be everything at the same time. behind.Go for what is relevant to you and leave other irrelevant. Do things that matters, time is running out. Discover who you are and fully give every aspect of your uniqueness to the world. This can be your path to extraordinary life.
7. Don't be weighed down by failure: Things may not always go the way you want it. You may experience hard times, failure and other things that will try to way you down, but be strong and don't lose focus. Henry Ford said: "Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently." Even when you find yourself in situations where you seem to be going nowhere, feeling inadequate and unable to face life with enthusiasm and confidence, just know that there can be another new beginning.
8. Involve God: If you are with God, you're with majority. Allow him to be the master of your ship because, he alone can fight the storms and waves you encounter in you life. Play your role as a mortal and then leave the rest for god.
The earlier the better because time shall come when you may not have the opportunity to do all that were stated here.
I hope you find this helpful and you can as well make your own contributions.
