Boko Haram freed two dozen hostages after a mass abduction by its militants in Cameroon, as Chad prepared Monday to engage in the international battle against the extremist group.
Twenty-four of the 80 people taken hostage by Boko Haram in the north of Cameroon Sunday were released as Cameroonian armed forces pursued the Islamist extremists, according to a government source.
The Boko Haram fighters then fled back into Nigeria, with the fate of the rest of the hostages taken in the raid, the worst of its kind to date, still unknown.
An army officer based in Cameroon’s far north said Boko Haram had attacked two villages and kidnapped what Cameroonian state media said were 80 hostages.
Three people also died in the assault.
As the militants retreated, the Chadian army said it was putting 400 military vehicles, attack helicopters, and still unspecified number of soldiers amassed in northern Cameroon into action against Boko Haram, as part of what has become a regional effort to defeat the notoriously violent group.
“We are going to advance (Monday) towards the enemy,” Chadian army colonel Djerou Ibrahim, who is leading the offensive against Boko Haram, told AFP from the strategic crossroads town of Maltam in northern Cameroon.
“Our mission is to hunt down Boko Haram, and we have all the means to do that.”
But Cameroonian Communications Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary warned the armies of the two nations still had considerable planning to complete before being able to launch offensives against Boko Haram.
“Military planners must evaluate the forces being coordinated and coalesced,” he said. “That takes time. Don’t expect to start seeing the results of that tomorrow.

That's because Nigeria is not Cameroon. Here, it's a case of a particular region using Boko Haram and Chibok abduction to ridicule the sitting president in a bid to return power back to their block. It's also a case of the military highly polarised into North-South divide, where a segment of the armed forces are refusing to fight, where soldiers sabotage the efforts of their counterparts, where the north is glaringly shielding Boko haram to make the country ungovernable for a southern president. Here Boko haram menace is 100% political. Their activity in Cameroon is just a smokescreen.

I don't know how old you are but if you're a good student of Nigerian political history, you wouldn't have raised such a shallow poser.I can tell you without any iota of reservation that the north can destroy half of themselves for political capital. Let me ask you these questions: Who staged the first coup that toppled a democratically elected govt headed by co-northerner? How many northern Christians have been killed in the name of religion and religious supremacy till date? How many co-northerners have been sent to untimely death by Hausa-Fulani cattle rearers in Plateau, Benue, Nassarawa etc? For your information, whether you believe it or not, Boko haram is a double-hedged sword been used for systematic annihilation of northern Christian community and also weakening Jonathan's govt so as to pave way for a forceful return of power to their fold. The number of fellow northerners killed in the process does not matter as far as their mission is concerned.

hahahahahaha paranoia plus delusion of the highest order. I can see u are d worst hit by gej's divide and rule along political and religious line mombo jombo.

I will have u know that Obasanjo is a Christian Southerner and he ruled for eight years and the "devilish" power hungry northerner u painted above voted him and supported him above there own fellow northerner so o don't really get ur point.

And for d coup u mentioned, pick a history textbook and educate ursef on d first coup, the plotters and the casualties. In case u don't know, that coup (Igbo coup) was the beginning of inter tribal killings in Nigeria. So what's ur point?
