The Academic Board of Yaba
College has nullified the 22days
polls holiday earlier announced for
the College students.
The Board, consisting of the
College Management, All Chief
Lecturers and Heads of
Departments, at an emergency
meeting Friday, February 6, 2015
ruled that Government directive
barring holidays for the polls is
upheld.
Education Minister, Mallam
Ibrahim Shekrau had on Monday,
announced that no public
institution should send students
home because of the elections.
He argued that schools have
wasted much time during past
strike actions by the unions, and
needed to firm up the academic
calendar to restore sanity.
The management has assured
staffs and students that additional
security measures would be put in
place within and around the
college to safeguard life &
properties. Students are however
advised to go about their studies
which are the major drive that
brought them to the college, and
to subject themselves to security
checks when demanded.
Night crawlers and other students
who keep late night outside have
been warned to distance
themselves from the college as late
entrance would not be tolerated.
