QUESTIONS TO PONDER BEFORE REAL CHANGE
COMES TO NIGERIA
“Why do we celebrate the corrupt and denigrate
trustworthy citizens? Why do we venerate those
who assail our commonwealth, but degrade
those who safeguard our treasury? Why are we
satisfied with the crumbs, and adulate the
scoundrels who steal our bread? Why do we
leave our destinies in the hands of those who
exploit us with regional, religious, and political
sentiments? Why are we satisfied with being the
yardstick for measuring the ills of the modern
world, when our continent was the cradle of
mankind? Why do we watch soundlessly as the
cacophonous clatters of the impostors drown
the scarce voices of our sages? Why do we
cherish giving up our children’s future for
ephemeral partisan gains? Why do we promote
unethical, slipshod, and perfidious regimes over
the agents of positive change? And why are we
proficient in the act and art of weaving the
ropes with which the oppressors hang us?” –
