IT’S CLEAN AND GREEN.

INTRODUCTION OF PRODUCT

We hereby seek to introduce our product, Biofil Toilet Digester, a unique technology to manage sludge.

Biofil Toilet Digester is an innovative on-site waste water treatment option that offers integrated treatment of sewage in a manner that poses minimal risk to the environment and public health, and the opportunity of sustainable economic returns on natural biological treatment of waste in the long term.

It is a technology that works by providing an enclosed environment for natural process of aerobic decomposition of feces including toilet paper and degradable materials. The digester is constructed as a living filter where oxygen inflow into the vault allows the seeds (bacteria, fungi, macro-organisms) within to degrade solids at the top layer aerobically and liquid are filter into the lower layers before being directed out of digester through a pipe into constructed drain field or collected and treated for reuse. This process is called RAB system;
Rapid separation of solid and liquid
Aerobic decomposition of solid
Bio- filtration of waste water
This is the same type of environment in forest where wildlife droppings are decomposed and converted into valuable nutrient for vegetation.

The Biofil Toilet Digester can be applied to replace the septic tanks for water-closet system; correct existing failed septic tanks and replaced non-flush systems/micro-flush system in places where water supply is an issue. In a waterlog area to dig a septic tank is an issue therefore Biofil Toilet Digester will be a perfect one in replacement of the conventional septic tank.

Objective of the Product

The technological objectives for the Biofil Toilet Digester System are as follows:
Prevention of sludge build – up
The immediate separation of liquid and solid components of the wastewater through the filters embedded in the biofil digesters prevent sludge build up.
To eliminate odour: airflow is maximized within the digester by
The built-in air gaps within the digester
Maintaining digester depth
To prevent groundwater contamination: the digester is installed above ground; half buried in the ground or below ground for an increased depth of the unsaturated zone attenuation of contaminants is most effective.
Value Proposition

The key benefits of toilet digester are:
Quantifiable economic benefits
The digester is cheaper than the conventional septic tank.
Long-term saving as a result of eliminated need for dislodging.
No operating cost.
Appropriate for any soil condition (clay, rock or high water table area).
Requires very little land
Water can be reused for landscaping.
Environmental health impacts
They eliminate the possibility of costly site remediation and clean-up.
No potential discharge of effluent into water courses;
Sludge is disposed appropriately.
Ecological impact mitigation
The system eliminates water and air contamination.
Digester reduces greenhouse gas emissions as methane is not releases directly into atmosphere.
Waste is treated under aerobic condition.
Biologically filtered of effluent does not trigger prolific plant growth e.g. algal blooms.
The system eliminates ground and surface water contamination.
Human health benefit
Prevention of diseases as there is no direct contact with the excreta.
It promotes good sanitation practice
No odour or sludge accumulation to attract flies that can cause or spread diseases.
The stand alone digester eliminates open defecation.
Reduces the risk of dumping untreated waste into the environment.
Rodent cannot burrow into the digester.
Sustainability
It is fabricated from local materials.
Easy to build and quick to install.
Do not require heavy equipment.
Excavation is optional
It can be easily maintained.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEPTIC TANK SYSTEM AND BIOFIL
TOILET DIGESTER

SEPTIC TANK SYSTEM
BIOFIL®TOILET DIGESTER
A large underground reservoir is needed to store waste from the flush toilet.

 The Biofil system is smaller to septic system and there is no need for reservoir for the same number of user
 Soil conditions (such as rocky and clayey soil or areas with high water tables) may make it difficult or inadvisable to excavate.

The ground does not need to be excavated to be installed; it can be placed above the ground.
The waste from the system when extracted requires further treatment before releasing into the environment.

No further treatment is required, as the solid waste is rapidly decomposed.
The waste decomposed under anaerobic condition, creating a semi-solid sludge. Harmful gases (methane and hydrogen sulphide) are also released.
The biofil toilet operates under aerobic conditions as liquid waste is immediately filtered out. The only bye products of the system are water and carbon-dioxide.
The reservoir may get filled up with waste and leak or overflows requiring its contents to pump out.
It does not get full, leaks or overflows and there is no need to extract waste.
An improperly designed or ill maintained septic tank system leads to pollution of the ground water
The danger of ground water pollution is minimal, as all feces is removed from the biofil digester and waste water is discharged into the biologically- active layer of the soil (top soil).
The septic system requires inspection chambers in addition to the tank, and the tank must be placed at the vantage point in order for the dumping truck to easily access it.
There is never a need for evacuation of the biofil digester, it can be sited anywhere within the compound.
A damaged or collapsed septic tank can affect the foundation of the building as it is normally sited closed to the main building.

 The cost of a typical septic tank is always high depending on the location.The Biofil is place above the ground or semi underground and it cannot affect the building foundation.

The cost of a typical standard digester is cheaper than the conventional septic tank.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT SYSTEM AND BIOFIL TOILET DIGESTER SYSTEM

SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
BIOFIL®TOILET DIGESTER
. A simple material flushed by one individual can affect the whole sewerage system in the estate

 The none decompose materials flushed by one individual cannot affect the whole estate.

 With sewers you need huge treatment plants and in many cases long haulage of waste products for final treatment away from the area of generation.
 No sewers; no huge treatment systems

 You need a dedicated management team to oversee its performance
It is self sustaining.  There is competition for space with other service lines such as roads, water supply lines, gas pipelines etc. Small footprint, only 1.65 sqm required for installation of a standard digester. You save on land space for other uses.

 Issue of who to desludge and mobilize funds from residents for desludging is crucial.

No desludging and haulage services

The cost of running sewage treatment plant is very high. It involves dedicated power supply, management team and real estate value.
No running cost
Environmental and ecological impact.

 The cost of ownership and maintenance is high.

It eliminate the environmental and ecological impacts.

The cost of ownership and maintenance is affordable. It is highly cost effective.

INTRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS

A. INTEGRATED WASTE TREATMENT PLANT (IWTP)

The Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (IWTP) is a sustainable waste management technique,
practices and technologies for the handling and treatment of sewage and all grey water
sources, as well as biodegradable fractions of municipal solid waste (MSW) and bio medical
waste generated in a hospital. The IWTP achieves sustainable water conservation and zero-discharge of wastewater to the environment and renewable energy (biogas) production.

The process is anaerobic system way of managing waste. Anaerobic digestion is a controlled
biological degradation process which allows efficient capturing and utilization of biogas
(approximately 60% methane and 40% carbon-dioxide) for energy generation. Biogas is
produced by bacteria through the bio-degradation of organic materials under anaerobic conditions.

The Integrated Waste Treatment Plant (IWTP) is being proposed to address the key
disadvantages of traditional sewage treatment plants (STPs). The IWTP project implements a sustainable integrated waste management system , which does not only meet the minimum FEPA Effluent discharge quality standards but also addresses key goals of emerging United Nations global sustainable development goals (SDGs). They include: Goal 11: Sustainable
cities and communities, Goal 3: good health and well-being; Goal 6: Clean water and
sanitation; Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production; Goal 13: Climate Action; Goal
14: Life below water (wetland), and Goal 15: Life on land.
The adoption of the IWTP can also drive the source separation of organic fractions of
municipal solid waste (MSW) generated from the kitchen and restaurants to significantly
reduce odium nuisance that emanates from putrescible in MSW.

Benefit of IWTP
1. Biogas generation for cooking/lighting/power
2. Water re-use and conservation. 3. Nutrient recovery and application as fertilizer in irrigation, landscaping/tree crop
plantations and greening the environment
4. Elimination of dislodging and off-site disposal of untreated wastewater discharge
5. High sanitation standards

Main drivers of IWTP
 Good sanitation practice
 Minimum land use
 Environmental friendliness
 Quantifiable direct economic benefits
 Portable water savings
 Health impact mitigation
 Ecological impact mitigation (climate change mitigation)

Advantages of IWTP
1. Renewable Source of Energy: To begin with, biogas is considered to be a renewable
source of energy. Since it often produced from materials that form sewage and waste
products, the only time it will be depleted is when we stop producing any waste.
2. Non-Polluting: It is also considered to be non-polluting in nature. The production of
biogas does not require oxygen, which means that resources are conserved by not using any
further fuel.
3. Reduces Landfills: It also uses up waste material found in landfills, dump sites and even
farms across the country, allowing for decreased soil and water pollution.
4. Bye-product benefit: This is the only waste treatment plant that generate bye product
which is biogas for cooking or electricity. The cost of ownership on IWTP can be generated
back from the sales of gas produced or water for farming.
5. Employment opportunities: Job opportunities are created for thousands of people directly
and indirectly during and after the installation of IWTP.
6. Reduces Greenhouse Effect: It also reduces the greenhouse effect by utilizing the gases
being produced in landfills as forms of energy. It recycles most forms of biodegradable waste
and works on simple forms of technology.
