I can deduce as follows;

The change in complexion of shekau means he is no more in the forest. He is indoors somewhere and feeding well.

The reason he is no more in the forest, is because the regional forces have seriously destroyed his fighters and armory and he fears for his life.

I can deduce that shekau has been re-packaged to look more focused, less psychiatric and has studied more politics and Islam.
