Green tea is gotten from Camellia sinensis it is quite different from black tea due to the processing involved. For black tea the leaves of Camellia sinensis are fermented before they are rolled, dried and packaged while green tea the leaves are just rolled, dried and packaged without undergoing the fermentation process. As a result green tea has a greater amount of antioxidants and poly-phenols that gives green tea many of its health benefits.



Here are some of the amazing health benefits of green tea:

1. CANCER- Green tea is a wonderful source of antioxidants. It is well known that oxidative damage contributes to the development of cancer and that antioxidants can have an effect. So it makes sense that green tea can lower the risk of cancer.

2. Green tea has anti-viral and anti-biotics properties because of the CATECHINS it contains. CATECHINS can destroy bacteria and viruses that cause throat infections, influenza.

3. As a result of the anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that green tea is good for the skin. It can help to with wrinkles, sun damage and signs of ageing. Some soap makers add it to soaps that they make because of its benefit the skin.

4. Caffeine in tea is used by ladies to reduce shedding of the hair. Shedding is completely normal but doing a tea rinse help reduce the amount of hair that is shed.

5. Drinking green tea aids in weight loss because it increases the metabolism of the body.

6. Green tea helps reduce blood sugar levels and also improve insulin sensitivity. It may lower the risk of developing type II diabetes in the long term.

7. Green tea reduces bad cholesterol in the blood and improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
8. It is said to delay deterioration caused by Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

9. Green tea may reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. Studies show that green tea improve some of the main risk factors for these disease.

10. Green tea contains various bioactive compounds that can improve health as stated above. The combination of all the constituents in coffee reduce free radicals in the body, protecting cells and molecules from damage.

In summary drinking a cup of green tea everyday has a lot of health benefits for the body. Invariably it helps you live longer.
