TEXT OF PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY
STATE OF OSUN CHAIRMAN OF ALL PROGRESSIVES
CONGRESS, PRINCE GBOYEGA FAMODUN, AT THE
APC STATE SECRETARIAT ON FRIDAY 20 FEBRUARY,
2015 ON THE FAKE VIDEO BY PDP AND FEMI FANI-
KAYODE
All protocols duly observed.
I want to welcome gentlemen of the press to this
press conference called in response to one
addressed by Femi Fani-Kayode yesterday in which
he accused our party APC and our Presidential
candidate General Muhammad Buhari of being afraid
of defeat in the rescheduled March 28th election and
thus planning how the election will be rigged or
manipulated in his favour.
To our surprise, a fabricated video recording acted
and said to be part of a none existent rigging done
during the 2014 Osun Governorship Election was
shown in which some criminals were busy
thumbprinting purported ballot papers ostensibly to
confuse Nigerians and distract attention from PDP's
usual attempt to manipulate the electoral process.
It is unfortunate that the collaborative disposition of
the Nigerian security community, particularly the
Directorate of State Security and the Nigerian Police,
in allowing the PDP to again foist sinister agenda on
Nigerians as usual. This is because we have alerted
the Directorate of State Security and the Nigerian
Police of this evil agenda of PDP since November, 17
2014 when we got hold of the evil tape scripted by
the PDP.
Immediately, our party got a copy of the fake video
recording did a petition to the Directorate of State
Security (DSS) through our Lawyer Barr Daud
Akinloye in which we demanded an investigation into
the matter the outcome of which nobody briefed us
till date. A copy of this letter is now being made
available to gentlemen of the press. Also, print-out of
culled shots of characters in the tendentious video is
also being made available to the press so that they
may be apprehended by security operatives who
have refused to carry out their responsibilities to act
on the video containing the images of these
characters since November last year
For the avoidance of doubt, our party, through its
lawyer, alerted the Nigeria Police and the Directorate
of State Security as far back as November, 2014 as
follows:
“(c ) that our client have in their possession which is
hereby annexed the videotapes which was
purportedly recorded showing that Governorship
election that was conducted on 9th August, 2104
were rigged in favour and on behalf of our client and
her and the Governor .
(d) In the video tape it was falsely represented that
our client and the Governor- elect agents in
collaboration with some arranged persons that were
armed are thumbprinting ballot papers allegedly used
for the election for and on behalf of our client.
(e) that this is an attempt to blackmail our client that
the said election were rigged in favour of APC and
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in their mischievous and
clandestine bid to use same to proof (sic) by
evidence and show before the Tribunal and the public
at large that the election that was acknowledged as
the freest and fairest in the history of Nigeria was
rigged by the APC to earn the victory. The tape is
hereby attached for your perusal and investigation.”
Therefore, for the incorrigible and pathological liar,
Femi Fani-Kayode, to be referring to our party "as a
pot calling a kettle black" surprises us as we are
NEVER of the same make with PDP anytime, any day.
In our party APC, we are genuine and committed
democrats that will never do anything to circumvent
the electoral process or deny the electorate the right
to freely choose who they want to lead them. The
whole world knows that this is strange to the PDP as
they only believe in CAPTURING the people's will as
can be seen from the audio tape of the rigging efforts
of PDP in Ekiti with the collaboration of Nigerian
Military which has been admitted to include voices of
major PDP rigging characters like Ayo Fayose,
Musiliu and Obanikoro in the audio recording .
Our party, the APC, has said it times without number
and repeating it now that nobody should rig for us but
that a level playing ground should be created for the
people to cast their votes for parties of their choice
without intimidation, harassment or corrupt influence.
Even with the stolen billions of Naira brought into
Osun before the election by the PDP and the over
70,0000 security operatives on ground, Osun people
still showed they were Omoluabis by allowing their
conscience to dictate their preference for the people
friendly government of our party APC under the
leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
To the matter in contention, a closer assessment of
the fake and fabricated video clip shamelessly
displayed by Femi Fani-Kayode-Kayode will indicate
that that was the purported ballot papers being
thumbprinted are not the ballot paper used for our
governorship election in Osun. For comparative
analysis, we here present to you gentlemen of the
press the fake ballot papers by the impostors as
captured from the fake video clip and the original
ballot used by INEC in the said election. We should all
recall that during the sitting of the Election Petition
Tribunal over the petition brought by PDP before it,
both parties were given the right to inspect the
materials used for the election including ballot papers
and we scanned over 300,000 of the ballot papers
from which we now show scanned copies of real
images of ballot papers used for the election with
clear distinction from the fake ballot papers in the
tendentious video.
All ballot papers used during the election carries
INEC name on top, with a colour bar/code for each
local government followed by the name of election
and a serial number ALL these are absent from the
PDP ballot paper shown on the television. Also for
thumbprinting, INEC used BLACK Indellible ink and
not BLUE as seen in their fake ballot. Looking at the
arrangement of the parties on their ballot paper, it is
clearly different from that used for our election;
immediately following APC on the original INEC ballot
is APGA while their own paper reflects another party
and a total of four parties were missing from the fake
ballot.
Nigerians should note the PDP badly acted this
drama of theirs and we have seen through their evil
machination which they are playing up to cover up
their misdeed in the Ekiti Governorship Election the
audio tape of which we expect the President or
National Assembly to have ordered an investigation
into. After the 2011 General Election in Osun, it
should be recollected that the PDP played a similar
prank like this in Oriade/Obokun Federal
Constituency when they criminally influenced some
INEC staff to void some of the ballot papers used and
which are already in their custody after the
declaration of the result of the election.
Our party APC is a decent party peopled by
committed democrats that will never involve in
electoral offenses and the PDP should stop seeing us
as criminals like them. More astounding is the fact
that our party APC and PDP jointly conducted
inspection into all materials used in the election and
NO discrepancy was found. Also if the PDP are sure
of their facts, why didn't they tender this fabricated
tape at the tribunal?
We have resolved that since the PDP has no shame
other than to think they can deceive Nigerians, we
will not allow this matter to lie low.
We are therefore demanding for an independent
Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the entire process
leading to the Osun Election. We demand an
exposition of all that happened two weeks to the
election, the night before the election and on the day
of the election up to the announcement of election
result the following morning.
When this panel of enquiry is convoked, it must be
given the power to extract evidence from anybody
through invitation and that nobody must refuse to
appear before it. Failure by the President and
National Assembly to act on this within two weeks,
we will call on the on the governor, Ogbeni Rauf
Aregbesola, to take up the task of setting up of the
panel of enquiry without delay.
Finally, to put a stop to such reckless behavior in
future, our party will be instituting a libel suit against
Femi Fani-Kayode and his collaborators to teach
them a lesson that it is not everybody that has
crooked tendency like them.
We also challenge the Directorate of State Security
and the Nigeria Police to explain to Nigerians why
they have failed, refused and or neglected to
investigate and take necessary actions on the
petition by our party on this fake concoction of PDP
since November, 2014. Thank you.
