NSCDC ANAMBRA PRESS RELEASE
Our attention has been drawn to a misleading story circulating over the internet and social media originating from Channels Television News on July 12, 2015 on the fatal accident that occurred at Immigration Junction Awka, the Capital of Anambra State that claimed the lives of three in a family of six, of which it was alleged that the trailer was being hotly pursued by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
We wish to state as follows:
1. That the report is FALSE in all sense of the word and that Officers of the Corps were NEVER in pursuit of the said trailer.
Sequel to this, it is pertinent to state that Officers of the Corps were the first to arrive at the scene after the accident and were instrumental to the rescue of those that survived the accident and taken to the hospital, in carrying out its rescue operations, which is one of the Corps’ mandates as stipulated in the NSCDC Act 2007 as amended, to save lives and properties.

2. NSCDC has lived up to her expectation in recording laudable achievements of the corps’ mandates and will not allow an unverified report from Channels Television or any other source whatsoever to tarnish the image of the Corps.
The Corps is hereby calling on the general public to disregard and verify the authenticity of the stories being speculated and transmitted by the media on this regard.
Finally, owing to the laudable track records of NSCDC as a Paramilitary Organization which has endeared the Corps in the heart of the Civil Populace, the Corps will continue to discharge its duty with every true sense of responsibility.
