AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN

Monday, January 26, 2015

HIS EXCELLENCY DR. GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN
EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT,
FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA,
ASO-ROCK VILLA –ABUJA

Your Excellency Sir,
CAN ONE SPEECH CHANGE THE WORLD?
I write to you today not as a technocrat, but as a truly concerned Nigerian citizen and an avid lover of the Nigerian federation, its people, history and culture. I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts to bear.
First, allow me to congratulate you, all political party candidates, and all concerned fellow Nigerian citizens with significant proof of a better engaged citizenry in our fledgling Democracy, and on your irate and discerning dispositions as president of our one great, most-strategic yet extremely delicate country.
I say this because it is no secret that political strategies have been elusive and WE the Citizens of Nigeria are all concerned about the continued shedding of social-contracts throughout the particular form of government in Nigeria. Indeed, it was heartbreaking that the INEC Chieftains criticized political parties, which often abandon their manifestos immediately they form a government, adding that soon after elections, the individual successful political office holder adopts strange manifestos outside the original ones of their parties. As a result, we see the dreams, aspirations and hopes of the Nigerian Citizens, which were always ignited in campaign speeches and propaganda, being crushed by sheer anarchy, lack of organization, lack of vision and disarray. This atmosphere paved a clear way for greed, opportunists and a destructive religious ideology that threatens, as you put it, not only the long-standing harmony between Nigerian Muslims and Christians...
