This is a part of the book written by Ajah Excel Anayo titled "The 15 Secrets of JAMB & WAEC Top Scorers

CHAPTER ONE

THE SECRET OF PAST QUESTIONS

Revising for JAMB exams is more than just reading through the notes you made in class. It also involves the knowing of how the questions come and the right approach to answering them. Practicing with JAMB past Questions and Answers can improve your chances of doing well.

Revision works best when you practice what you will be doing in the exam. And by writing what you know as the answer makes it easier to be remembered when the real exam comes.

The past questions indicate trends of how JAMB can surprise students and make those who know the pattern happy. You come to a state of self preparedness when you attempt a minimum of 10 past questions in each subject before sitting for it. Top scorers know that questions are often repeated from the same topic every year, with only a change in sentence, figure or option. While you study the past question, you will get to know the following :

1. The topic in high demand: there are some topics that JAMB AND WAEC love so dearly that the questions will not be complete without them. Then such topics, you give them concrete attention so as not to miss that opportunity of additional scores.

2. You become familiar with the pattern: JAMB has its own pattern of setting exam question. If you don't know it, you will see a question on a topic you have read very well yet you won't get the answer. Thus, with the past question, you can know the trend and what the examiner really want from you.

3. You know what to expect: if you study the past questions very well you will get to know what to expect from JAMB in any topic and this will build yourself confidence. People are afraid of the future because they don't know what it hold. If they had known, they will confidently face their destiny. Now that you know what to expect, you arm yourself with everything it would take to meet it.

4. You get yourself under examination condition: which implies that the exam day is just like the second time of writing the exam.

CAUTION: You don't study with your past question only, let your text book on the subject stay close to you with other subjects being far away as possible. When you have finished marking and scoring, your text book can help you get details of the correction for the ones you failed as well as the ones you got by guess work. While you are searching the text book for the answers, it will help you cover other areas while pursuing the main context. This will crystallize your preparation well and give it a shape and confidence in your mind. And you know what! In JAMB, real and deep confidence matters a lot.

HOW TO MAXIMIZE THIS SECRET:

If you miss this point, you will be like any other person who has Past Question without knowing how to use it to boost their scores.

Select a topic you want to revise on, for example in Mathematics you picked "Indices". Go to your text book, class note and or tutorial jotter. Study this topic again.
Open your Past Question and pick out all the questions that has to do with Indices e.g. 2000 - 2011
Check this set of questions in your Mathematics pamphlet.

You will observe that the questions don't change. They ask the same questions but in a different way. Sometimes, they repeat the questions word for word.

By the time you have answered 20 JAMB questions on indices, you will be ready for it in any way it will be presented on exam day. Please, if you don't have past questions on your four subjects yet, get one today. The secret of any examination is hidden in its past questions. You can't afford to go for JAMB UTME or WASTE without practicing with the past question. This was my secret of passing Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE), West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and JAMB UTME.

If you are inspired by this Drop a comment and I will publish Chapter 2 of this book here
