INEC Must Abandon Planned Use Of Card Readers For Polls —PDP Group by pendy79: 10:49pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
CHAIRMAN of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Integrity Group, Senator Anietie Okon, has insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must listen to the voice of reason and abandon its plan to use the smart card reader for the coming election. He said in an interview in Abuja at the weekend that in view of the shoddy preparation by the electoral body, making use of the device was fraught with grave danger for the country. Okon wondered why the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, would insist on its use if he had no ulterior motive. According to him, “particularly worrisome is the refusal by INEC and its chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to yield to common sense and reason, and to recognise the glaring pitfalls inherent in the card reading machine as well as the consequent confusion that is inevitably occasioned at the polling units arising either from the malfunctions of the device or deliberate mishandling of same.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/news/news-headlines/item/31920-inec-must-abandon-planned-use-of-card-readers-for-polls-pdp-group |

They deceive themselves and their gullible supporters with hallucination of winning with a landslide but inwardly they are so scared that INEC won't allow them produce voodoo election figures like the 99.9% PDP recorded in the South South and South East in 2011. Is there anyone out there who still think GEJ and PDP has a change of winning in a free fair and open contest on the 28th of march 2015? Can't wait to be in the thick of it all. 10 Likes |

In as much as INEC has its own fault with regards to the way it handled PVC distribution and the card reader testing, I see no reason why some set of people will want to kick against this laudable improvement. If they don't want us to use the card reader now, when would they suggest we use it There is no perfect system anywhere in the world, any imperfection recorded now will be improved upon in subsequent elections, and that how we are going bring election rigging to the barest minimum in nigeria. Those kicking against the use of card reader, should let INEC be and allow them to do their job as stated in the nigerian constitution, the card reader is here to stay the earlier they embrace it the better for them... 1 Like 1 Share |

kheart: They are sponsoring some jobless and hungry youths to protest against the usage of PVC and Card readers across the country. Why are they scared of it? It's obvious they want to cheat. 1 Like |

jaymichael: Add the fact their candidate was the one who approved and paid for the thing they are seriously fighting against now. It's clear he thought the APC can't match their strides or the power of incumbency he bears not knowing the real power belongs to the PEOPLE. They tot it will be business as usual not knowing Nigerians are tired and have decided to tAke their destinies in their hands. |

berem: There's no compromise on that, Thank God the Electoral Act of 2011 has given Jega so much powers over issues such as this. One can see with all the failures all plans of the PDP to disrupt the process have encountered. From their YDP which they feel will be their masterstroke failing woefully to plot to remove Jega hitting the rocks before being hatched. |

GboyegaD: I feel the card reader technology will be the first amongst the many by INEC to improve the overall conduct of election in Nigeria. I look forward to electronic voting verifiable with Biometrics so Nigerians in diaspora being allowed to participate. The PDP and GEJ says he is using technology to fight corruption but he is scared of using technology to fight electoral fraud and rigging. |
