OUR POSITION IS CLEAR:

1. It Is Our Turn
Since 1999, power has rotated between North and South-West. The South-East is the only major region excluded. 2027 is the year to correct this historic injustice.

2. Peter Obi Represents That Mandate
Peter Obi is not just an Igbo candidate. In 2023, he proved that Nigerians across all tribes want competence, accountability, and a new Nigeria. He remains the face of that movement.

3. Message to Nigeria and the World
"To the Federal Government, to political parties, and to our international partners including the UK: Do not stand in the way of justice.
If you deny the South-East in 2027, you are telling 60 million Ndigbo that they are second-class citizens in their own country."

4. The Consequence
"If 2027 is rigged to exclude the South-East again, Ndigbo will withdraw political, economic, and moral support from such a government. There will be mass mobilization, civil action, and national resistance through democratic means.

Prominent Igbo elders and stakeholders have issued a strong appeal to the Governments of the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and global philanthropist Bill Gates, urging them not to use their influence to frustrate the emergence of a Nigerian President of South-East extraction in 2027.

The elders said Nigeria’s unity and stability depend on fairness, equity, and adherence to the principle of power rotation among the country’s major regions.

THE CASE THEY ARE MAKING:

1. Equity and Rotation:
Since 1999, Nigeria’s presidency has rotated between the North and South-West. The South-East is the only major region yet to produce an elected President of Nigeria. For national cohesion, 2027 presents a historic opportunity to correct this imbalance.

To block him in 2027 is to tell 60 million Ndigbo that they have no place in the highest office, despite their contributions to Nigeria’s economy and unity.

3. Warning Against Foreign Interference:
The elders cautioned that any attempt by foreign governments, institutions, or influential individuals to influence Nigeria’s 2027 elections against a South-East candidate will be seen as an attack on justice and fairness.
“We respect our international partners. But Nigeria’s presidency is for Nigerians to decide. Do not use aid, investments, or diplomatic influence to stop the South-East,” the statement read in part.

4. The Consequence of Ignoring This:
The elders warned that sabotaging a South-East presidency in 2027 risks mass anger, protests, and deeper divisions.
“If Ndigbo are shut out again in 2027 after playing by the rules, the result will be frustration. We are calling for peace, but peace must be built on justice.”


Nigeria cannot grow when one region is permanently excluded from leadership. Supporting a free, fair 2027 election where a South-Easterner like Peter Obi can contest without external sabotage is supporting Nigerian unity.

- North: Operation Safe Corridor is negotiation/deradicalization for BH. FG spends billions on it yearly.
- East: Past govts tried dialogue committees for SE agitators multiple times.
So 'negotiate with Kanu in East' is not new. 'Negotiate with BH in North' is already policy since 2016.

2. Agitation type matters for conditions, not for 'talk vs no talk':
BH uses religion as cover, but core issue FG addresses is violence + recruitment. IPOB uses self-determination, but core issue is grievance + detention. Govt doesn’t give BH Sharia for Nigeria. Govt won’t give IPOB Biafra at dialogue table. Both talks have red lines: Nigeria’s sovereignty.
