Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has launched a venomous attack on the “disgusting farce” surrounding the club following the reported arrest of president Giampietro Manenti.

The Italian side are rock-bottom of the top flight, with players and staff not being paid, and ahead of Thursday’s crucial bankruptcy hearing it was revealed their owner has been accused of money laundering and embezzlement.

Lucarelli is furious with the latest development as the club have gone from a solid mid-table side to certainties for relegation on the back of several points deductions.
