Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has claimed there is a plot to impose an interim government in an attempt to scuttle Nigeria’s upcoming elections.

The popular writer and professor of literature stated that after he investigated the plot he approached President Goodluck Jonathan to find out if he was involved, and according to Soyinka the president denied any involvement.

Prof Soyinka warned Nigerians that if care is not taken, a shadowy group of former and serving military generals, including some politicians, might overthrow Nigeria’s democracy.

About a month ago, Soyinka criticised the two major contenders in the forthcoming presidential elections, President Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, describing them as ‘problematic’ candidates.
