|Today Makes It Two Years Since Achebe's Death. by 01mcfadden(m): 2:40pm On Mar 22, 2015|
Today, 21st March 2015, makes it two years since the passing of the world-renowned Nigerian literary icon and social critic, Chinua Achebe.
The man of letters passed on on this day in 2013 in a Boston hospital after a brief illness, leaving many Nigerians in shock and rattling the literary world.
Nigeria is a kingdom that is divided against itself. That is why, at Achebe"s death some section of Nigeria began the campaign to say he is not the father of African Literature as the rest of the world revere him to be. How can a nation that fights the honor conferred on one of her own turn around and promote him? But jealousy can not stop the truth. This man is a Collosous, an icon and his honour lives on. He looms larger in death than in life. That is one thing jealous detractors can"t find their way around.
