Is Muhammadu Buhari Able To Implement Changes He Promises? by paullo240: 11:29pm On Mar 23, 2015 |
asks Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate, three questions that challenge his capability to bring on the change Nigerians are waiting for. It is true that Nigerians crave for positive change that would bring about sustainable socioeconomic growth and development to Nigeria. The APC and Muhammadu Buhari, its presidential candidate, have been skillfully using “change” as a keyword in their campaigns. Based on perception of the concept of “change” created by the APC, Nigerians may be divided into three categories: 1) those convinced that Buhari and the APC cannot bring about the change Nigeria needs, 2) those seriously pondering over the possibility of the APC to induce the change, and 3) those assuming that the APC can provide the change Nigerians long for. As far as I belong to the second category, I would like to examine the capability of Buhari and the APC by putting forward the following questions for Buhari: “Am I physically and mentally capable enough to pilot Nigeria’s affairs?” We are living in the era of information. Demographic and technological changes, as well as global economic challenges are impacting the survival of a nation. Therefore, Nigeria, which hosts about 180 million people, needs an open-minded, young, vibrant and well-educated leader in order to thrive and function successfully. However, Buhari is old, and we all know that old age is usually followed by weakness. He has not received any formal education and appears to lack important analytical and problem- solving skills that are needed to confront local and global issues Nigeria is facing. Moreover, old age also comes with illnesses. The common diseases associated with age are the central nervous and cardiovascular diseases. Memory loss is a typical central nervous disorder for ageing people. Buhari couldn’t remember the name of his running mate and what “INEC” stands for. Does it make sense to elect a leader who is already showing symptoms of memory loss and other age-related complications? Recently, the running mate of the retired general, professor Yemi Osinbajo, made it clear to Nigerians that he had “prepared himself to rule Nigeria once something bad [death] befalls Buhari” if Buhari is elected president! It can therefore be inferred that Yemi Osinbajo is already anticipating that Buhari will not last long on the presidential throne if elected president come March 28, 2015! Does Nigeria need a president who might die in the office? Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor, must have analyzed this situation before stating the “absolute conclusion and truth” that Buhari himself does not have the required physical and mental capabilities to rule a nation. Therefore, he is not able to bring about the change Nigerians are looking for! “Am I truthful to Nigerians?” Buhari said he borrowed N27 million from the bank to purchase his presidential form. But, at the same time his wife donated about N135 million or more to Adamawa IDPs! Buhari states he does not have any property and assets and lives on his pension. However, he was able to borrow money from the bank to power his presidential campaigns in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Could the bank dish out billions of naira three consecutive times to someone who doesn’t provide any collateral? I am strongly convinced Buhari is yet to tell Nigerians the truth about who he really is and what amount of wealth he accrued for himself from state treasury when he was the head of state, PTF and NNPC! Buhari is a pretender, and a pretender cannot effect the positive change Nigerians are longing for! “Can a lying political party bring about positive change?” The APC is now denoted as a party of “one week – one lie”. Let’s take a few examples of obvious lies the APC has told Nigerians this year, 2015. In January, the vice-presidential candidate of the APC, professor Yemi Osinbajo, posted a photo of Reinhard Bonnke’s crusade in the media and lied to Nigerians that the mammoth crowd on the photo represent Nigerians awaiting Buhari during the APC rally in Kano. Can a lying pastor and attorney bring on the change Nigerians yearn for? In February, the APC lied to Nigerians that Buhari did not undergo any medical examination during his visit to the UK. In order to authenticate this lie, the APC stated that Buhari had a meeting with Tony Blair, former British prime minister, providing a photo of a previously arranged interview Buhari had with Kemi in Abuja. Can a party that consistently lies so as to seize the power be the change we need in Nigeria? Read also: I Met Buhari On Saturday — Tony Blair To sum it up, the above facts show that the APC, full of lies and propaganda, does not represent the change Nigeria craves for. Open your eyes and save Nigeria’s future with your vote! God bless Nigeria, God bless us all. |
