lastpage: Do you in any way think that the violence could not come from the opposition party? Or you also don't think there is a level of desperation in them? The talk here is about war, and all you can say imagine is how GEJ would be held responsible. In fact, you don't care, even if it will consume you loved ones, so long as its GEJ that would be held responsible. Continue! No wonder you have been part of the hate campaign. Of course, you are sure of victory. Don't worry, my prayer is that God would not allow us to realise too late, that being stronger as some of us think, is not as good as being in peace |

zicoraads: Absolutely, I told someone if it's possible to check, that I will bet on it that more than 60% of the people there are employed, maybe self employed, but at least doing great, but because everyone wanna get govt money without working hard for it. I know someone who works in a bank, new employed and working as a teller, yet he purchased the form and applied, went for the interview too, with reason that immigration work will be easier since it is govt work he can get time to do other business too. that's the mentality broh, very sad but true, Nigerians are naturally greedy. |

When they are black, U.S society is eager to throw them in jail or have their white cops gun down innocent black males or wait more than 24 hours to get hurricane Katrina victims help because they are black. Sure, amerikkka protects her WHITE citizens. |

The detentions came after Xi Jinping, China’s president, chose to visit three African countries on his first overseas trip in March as part of a charm offensive. Beijing’s bilateral trade with the continent was more than $200bn last year and more than 2,000 Chinese companies have invested a total of $20bn. Yu Jie, the political director at the Chinese embassy in Accra, Ghana’s capital, said the 124 miners were being held at an immigration detention centre in the city. He said they had been allowed consular access and were expected to be deported soon. The embassy lodged representations to the west African country over the arrests, demanding Ghanaian security authorities ensure the Chinese citizens’ legal rights and safety. Chinese miners flock to Ghana gold boom Chinese flag The soaring gold price has attracted Chinese workers and heavy equipment to Ghana’s mines, drastically changing the scale and nature of operations The number of Chinese miners in Ghana has grown rapidly in recent years as the gold price has risen. Local mining officials estimate that there are several thousand Chinese working in the mining sector, most of them illegally. But Mr Yu said: “There are more than 10,000 Chinese doing mining in Ghana.” Su Zhenyu, secretary-general of the Chinese mining association in Ghana, said 50,000 Chinese miners had come in since 2005. The majority come from Shanglin county in China’s poor southwest province of Guangxi, where men follow their relatives and neighbours to what is said to be a good business opportunity. Asked how many of the Chinese miners had valid work permits, Mr Yu said: “That is difficult to explain”. Toni Aubynn, chief executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, said “only a very small percentage” of Chinese miners in Ghana were likely to be working legally. He said he knew of two Chinese mining companies operating legally in the country, one extracting bauxite and the other gold. Both had a modest number of expatriate staff. Most Chinese miners were likely to be working on a small scale, Mr Aubynn said. Although the Chinese presence has been welcomed by some Ghanaian small-scale miners, who benefit from their financing and access to cheap equipment, it has caused social and environment problems. By law, small-scale mining is reserved for Ghanaian citizens, to ensure that local communities benefit. It is meant to leave a small footprint, but the Chinese miners have brought in bulldozers and other heavy machinery, and seldom rehabilitate their sites. With tensions rising in the mining areas, John Dramani Mahama, president, set up a ministerial task force in May to tackle illegal mining by locals and foreigners. The task force has the mandate to “deport all non-Ghanaians involved in small-scale mining”. The initiative steps up earlier campaigns. Last year, a 16-year-old Chinese boy was killed in a raid in which 90 Chinese were arrested. In 2011, 20 Chinese had been arrested for illegal mining. “For the first time in a long while the government is acting resolutely to deal with this problem,” Mr Aubynn said. “It’s not an anti-Chinese move, it’s just that they have the most foreign nationals working in the sector.” However, in China, the latest arrests are set to fuel anger over what many see as unfair treatment. Zhang Xiaofeng, director of the African Economy Research Institute at Zhejiang Normal University, said although illegal operations by some Chinese miners, particularly private companies, were a problem, Chinese were often innocent targets of attacks in Africa. “There is jealousy and hate against Chinese because the Chinese are more hard-working and have made some profits in Africa,” he said. But he blamed western media for fuelling conflict. “They propagate the theory of the China threat, of the yellow peril,” he said. In private, some Chinese experts are much more critical of their own countrymen. “Many Chinese go there illegally and don’t register through the commerce ministry so the government can’t really do anything,” said one. “I think what the Ghanaian government did is a good warning to some Chinese. They can’t just go there, make a quick buck and leave.” donnypool:
