Abuja - Professor Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the
Independent National Electoral Commission, has insisted that
the results of the presidential election will be released within 48
hours.
Jega made the statement at the International Conference
Centre, Abuja, while addressing journalists on Sunday.
He said people should not misinterpret him when he said 48
hours.
"You start counting 48 hours when substantial amount of
polling units have concluded elections."
He said that the first collated results from the 36 states of the
federation are being expected at the National Collation Centre
in Abuja.
He insisted that INEC is the only authorised body to announce
elections results.
