The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has dismissed the claim by Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode that President Goodluck Jonathan is leading in Saturday’s election in 23 of Nigeria’s 36 states Premium Times reports.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement said our attention has been drawn to the claim made by Fani-Kayode, that PDP is winning the presidential election in 23 states and has scored 64 per cent.



While addressing journalists at the International Conference Centre, the venue for collation of presidential election results, the INEC chairman dismissed Fani-Kayode’s claim.

He said results had only been collated in two states, including Ekiti State, adding that, “except more states have finished collation while we are in this hall.”

Jega also dismissed speculations that the elections maybe declared inconclusive, saying he was not under pressure to do so.



Addressing Journalists on Sunday in Abuja, Fani- Kayode said the outcome of claimed results was based on results filed in by it’s polling agents nationwide, just as he stressed that results would be subjected to the confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Director of Media and Publicity of PDPPCO, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that Prof. Attahiru Jega should be held responsible over the card reader machine glitches during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
