Nigeria internationals, Victor Moses and Victor Achebe, may
not be sure where they will be when the 2015/16 kicks off but
what may be certain for the Victors is that they will not be in
their current clubsides.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has signified that he will sell
Moses in the summer to allow him buy Raphael Varane. The
Nigeria international is currently at Stoke City on a season-
long loan deal and this may be the opportunity for the team
to land him on a permanent deal as Mark Hughes wants to
keep the attacker at the Britannia Stadium on a permanent
basis.
A Daily Mail report suggested that Mourinho was set to let go
Moses in order to help Chelsea overcome Financial Fair Play
restrictions administered by the European football governing
body, UEFA, in the transfer market.
The Nigerian signed for the Stamford Bridge team from Wigan
in 2012, but spent last season on loan at Liverpool before his
move to Stoke earlier in the current campaign.
Hughes admitted in February that he hoped to keep Moses
beyond the end of the season, saying, “Victor is still a Chelsea
player, we’re very pleased with what he’s producing.
“We have given him the opportunity and he’s in a good place.
We’d ideally love to be able to take him if we can but that
won’t be our decision. Things have to fall in place but if there
was an opportunity to bring Victor next season we’d love to
do it.
“It will be discussed at the end of the season; we will see how
far it can go. But his profile is being raised so it is a two-
edged sword.
“A loan could be a compromise. The key would be to try and
find a way to keep him here next season.
“Would he get the opportunity his talents deserve back at
Chelsea? We like to think we would be a consideration for him
almost certainly.”
At West Brom, Tony Pulis is planning a major overhaul of his
squad this summer – with Anichebe and Youssouf Mulumbu
the chief casualties , Sun day People reports.
Baggies chief Pulis is looking to move on around six fringe
players as he aims to re-shape his squad at the end of the
season.
And £5m signing Anichebe, along with combative midfielder
Mulumbu, top the list as Pulis further stamps his mark on the
Black Country club he took over in January following the
sacking of Alan Irvine.
Anichebe has been more miss than hit following his switch
from Everton in 2013.
Pulis also believes that Mulumbu is surplus now that he has
Darren Fletcher fit and firing in the heart of his engine room.
Several others are earmarked for an exit. Andre Wisdom, on a
season’s loan from Liverpool, will be sent back to Anfield and
decisions have yet to be taken on the futures of Brown Ideye
and Jonas Olsson.
