There has been news all around the internet about the 117 years old Japanese granny, who celebrated her birthday March 5; news of how the Guinness World Records recognized her to be the oldest person in the world.

My question is, can this person really be the world's oldest person? With all the announcements that our Nigerian radios and TVs make everyday: of people who died at 120; and of others whose children are willing to literally feed the whole nation as their parents clock their twelfth decade on earth.

Is it that these announcements are all lies and those who claim to be 120 are not really so; or could it be, as I've always guessed, that those world records are not usually correct and well censored and the recorders need to work harder in the future to confirm the validity of what they'll term world's best, or oldest?
