Burning buildings isn't important..... The armoury is. If at all troops will withdraw from the town, they should clean the armoury before leaving.

And also, the quality of NAs recruit is very poor. They are the major reasons for the terrorists capturing towns. They are not trained for counter insurgency like their SF mates. NA needs to change training and doctrine at the depot.
If not for the disastrous economy situation Nigeria found herself, most of those men won't be in the army.

The Boko Haram fighters, in a fresh wave of attacks, invaded Damasak town in Borno State on Saturday, setting fire on United Nations facilities and forcing humanitarian workers to flee for their lives.

SaharaReporters learnt that the terrorists, aided by their deadlier Islamic State West African Province fighters, set fire to the UN office and to at least three other international charity organisations contiguous to the UN facility.

“The terrorists came into the town in gun trucks. They first embarked on a looting spree. They carted away aid supplies meant for the Internally Displaced Persons before they set fire to the UN hub in the town and three other buildings belonging to other aid organisations,” a source in the town narrated.

A military source confirmed the Saturday attack on Damasak but said the troops were fighting hard to ensure that the terrorists did not overrun the town.

“They planned to attack the military base first, but we repelled the invasion. Pockets of them then went to the UN facility. The Nigerian Air Force aircraft have been called in and they are currently engaging in air interdictions on the terrorists,” he stated.

UN facilities are becoming increasingly threatened in the North-East.

On March 1, ISWAP jihadists overran a UN hub in Dikwa, killing six civilians and forcing aid workers to retreat from the town despite urgent humanitarian needs temporarily.

On March 15, the fighters had attacked Damasak, the headquarters of the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno.

The United Nations is yet to react to the latest assault on its facility in the state.

UPDATE: Troops overpower terrorists in Damasak, seize five gun trucks
(Update from Damasak boys)

Boko Haram terrorists have suffered further damage after a failed attack on Damasak, local government headquarters of Mobbar this evening.

Troops of the Nigerian Army captured five of their gun trucks, foiling their attempt to overrun a military base and a humanitarian coordination hub.

A security source, under absolute anonymity, told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS following our report earlier that the terrorists came in groups targeting the two places.

'The first group targeted the military while the other headed towards the humanitarian warehouse as well as shops, probably to cart away food items.

'But we were able to neutralize and injured several of them,' the source said.

The source further noted that military jets boosted the ground troops in their attacks against the terrorists.

The latter hid under dense neem trees to obstruct aerial surveillance and attacks, but seemed to have suffered heavily nonetheless from the ground personnel.

'It wasn't good enough, we were able to destroy five of their gun trucks and the situation of the town is under control at a moment,' the source said.

Our source further noted that the terrorists set ablaze several buildings in the town, as the only casualty so far reported.

Is it possible that when JAS or ISWAP attacks a military base the Army and Airforce can lay out strategies to ensure 90% of these bastards are killed? The truth is that’s the easiest way to get them in high numbers.

I need your suggestions on how this can be achieved. cool

Let’s discuss.

The problem is situational awareness, You don't know exactly when the enemy is coming, You don't know how many flanks they are or would be attacking from and you will need to be very careful when chasing them back as to not be ambushed by the same enemy you're chasing.

The best way to do that is through UCAVs, attack helicopters and platforms like tucanos

They adapt easily and very fast so the strategy you use today will most likely not work tomorrow.
Few months ago, they attacked marte, the troops there lured them in while reinforcements was on the way to block their retreat but the reinforcement ended up being ambushed because that had been used against them before.

The only thing they've really not been able to counter is the air power and that is where our strategy should focus on. To be honest, it is really embarrassing when we deploy helos and aircrafts and we only destroy less than ten of their guntrucks. Is seems to me that the load out of the air support packages are few and not designed to take out the mobility, just to chase them off. Take out the guntrucks and the terrorists are easy pickings. It seems the military has decided never to use missiles in this war but maybe when the Tucanos arrive, they will use the APKWS to take out high value targets.
I heard that with the delivery of the Tucanos with their APKWS package, all aircrafts in NAF's arsenal will be able to use laser guided rockets with the Tucanos designating the targets. I don't know how true this is but it will be a great game changer if true.

As from next week, officers and men will be dressing in their plain green jackets on Mondays and Fridays.
By Nasir Ayitogo

The Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, has prescribed a new dress code for officers and men of the Nigerian Army.

The directive, according to military sources, was contained in a signal to all Army units and formation across Nigeria.

The directive comes about three months after Mr Attahiru, a lieutenant general, assumed office.

The new directive is part of the restructuring being undertaken by the new army leadership.

Shortly after assuming office, the army chief approved the redeployment of 204 of its officers to new formations across the country.

The redeployment came the same day Mr Attahiru was confirmed and elevated from the rank of major general to lieutenant general.

Reforms in the army are usually expected especially when there is a change of leadership.

Mode of Dressing
With effect from next week, all officers and soldiers are to dress in their plain green jacket on Mondays and Fridays. The dress is popularly known as “number four dress” in the army.

The number four dress is like a short-sleeved suit, popularly known as safari. It has four buttons and four pockets and is usually worn with a peak cap.

The new directive further stated that on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, all officers and soldiers are to dress in the plain green uniform which requires them to tuck in. It is known as “number five dress.”

The number five dress is a short-sleeved dress worn with a beret and can be worn with a combat boot or bate shoe.

The materials for number four and five dresses are all the same with their styles being the only difference.

The directive further stated that the dress for various operations still remain the woodland and desert camo depending on the region of Operation. It is known as the number six dress.

According to sources, the mode of dressing contained in Mr Attahiru’s directive was what obtained before the coming of the immediate past Army Chief, Tukur Buratai.

“Butatai gave a new directive while he was in power that number four uniform be used only for seminars and number five for office,” the source said.

He added that the new directive is not new to the army.

Why won't the police sleep? The military has recruited thousands of able men and women since Buhari came into power. The same Buhari only recruited 20K policemen within that period.

The military was gifted a $1Billon by GEJ from the Execss Crude oil account. Buhari on two occasions was dole out Billions of Dollars in extra budgetary allocation to the military. What has the military done with the money? All the Guntrucks BHT are currently using are from the NA.

The Police is the most hated institution in this Presidency, the police is the most under funded agency in this administration.

GEJ was the last President to provide vehicles to the police, the SAFER HIGHWAY VEHICLES you see on the highway are the last batch of vehicles given to the police in 2014.

You get luck say this na 'burner account'.

Your type of 'Superior thinking' should not pull down the Black community but acknowledge it's shortcomings and then actually 'operationalize' ideas to reorientate the small percentage of African descent that aren't 'wise' as is common with other races too!

My main grouse is 'average black with anal reasoning'. Who fvcking says that?

The Average black is a resilient person who is making the most out of an ever evolving world and operating with the tools available to them.

Stop grandstanding and increase the political, economic and mental power in your community.

Pull up instead of putting down.

I'm sorry I got carried away and insulted you back... might find you in real life and share a grilled goat with you.

Shey police that they found 80000 ghostworkers in after forcing the force to enroll into IPPIS?
They have a whole ministry to then that sends budget to the budget office for their needs. Even if they are being poorly funded, can't they lobby like the military? The only reason people hate them is because they project that image themselves.
