How many soldiers stay inside an APC during combat?. Do you even know what APCs are for?. Do you know why they are different from IFVs / AFVs?

You have spoken well NafeesaAA.

I have been on the proposing side for better equipping and functionality of the NPF, given them the right tools and reengineering structurally to enable them do a better job for all Nigerians.
SOLUTION: IT's going to be a long road but they should stop their rhetoric's and create a special Swat team, with about a 100Men in each state, they should be well equipped with tactical gears, armored and soft skin mobility(APC 2 per state X 36 =72), heavy firepower and communications. They would be spaced in each state at least into four teams comprising of 25men for each formation, having their own building's within the police division command and one at the state commands no matter how small with our their hostels and lounge. They would form the tip of the spear for any challenge too overwhelming for the Mopol units in any state. They aren't for patrols except in critical times, each roll out squad should comprise of 10 man team each, meaning we have two teams and an reserve of 5. These 5men base roster must be at the base incase of backups or emergencies when a unit calls. If they can stay highly disciplined and dedicated they would motivate a face lift of the Nigeria police force.

The police doesn't really lack much in terms of equipment, they have APCs, helicopters and so on, there are as much as 20 APCs operated by the police in Osun state alone, Lagos state has more. The problem is structural, they are not motivated or even willing to work.
There is really no need for another special police unit, the mobile police force can be reorganized to make them as effective as they used to be. Stop the SPU nonsense and let the private sector take care of that. Then improve their training to be able to counter emerging threats, maybe sending their trainers out for training could help or bringing in trainers from other countries.
Establishing a new unit will only lead to redundancy and uselessness of some of other units.
Then increase intelligence gathering capacity of the police force, how can a police force function without proper intelligence.
Then increase the number of the personnels of the police force, the current number is far too low ebring about any reasonable result, almost every location in this country is a crime scene, increase the number of stations and posts too. Allow states and local governments create their own law enforcement agencies that will be subordinate to the NPF and find a way to foster cooperation. Let there be clear rules on jurisdiction and AORs to avoid conflicts and more importantly, bring about a system outside of the police force that will oversee the activities of law enforcement agents across the country. To start with, give them the mandate to reduce cultism to a level where it doesn't pose any threat.
Of course all these can't be done if the welfarism of the personnels is ignored, we will just be going around circles.

Sir, you believe RWS are useless on an MBT platform too?

RWSs are required on MBTs and IFVs. There are battle scenarios where they come useful BUT plss this video game attitude to combat realities must stop.
When you use your imagination to conjure up battle scenarios, you will find they probably won't be used 80% of the time on MBTs and IFVs for firing the 30mms and 12.7mm. I am not talking of the MBT main guns

I don't know why you guys are arguing over this matter.

NA said they bought 60 APC but people here want to turn them to IFVs.

Do you guys think Nigerian Army can't differentiate the role both will play in battle field?

Do you even know if there are plans for IFVs that will have more than your expectations?

MRAPs are also APCs. Now we are just talking about track APCs and regular wheels. Each have their own pros and cons.

Interesting writeup.

I believe something must be on the pipeline concerning IFVs for NA. We didn't know about the new APCs too and it was never in any budget.

Let's just remain hopeful.

The need for greater firepower does not erase the need for protected mobility Sha, Nigeria cannot afford convoys filled with IFVs across the various theaters. The most pressing need is to reduce the number of soft skins used in battles. Lack of protected mobility is the single largest cause of casualties on NA's side. And for the time being, the ST1 can do the job any IFV is going to do howbeit more expensively. With time, the need for greater firepower will be satisfied.

The type 89 can withstand up to 12.7mm ammo, anything beyond that, the enemy has in little quantity.

Would it make any sense for the navy to deploy to the location after knowing that the Russians were closer to the scene? The Russians could have gotten the distress signal first and might have communicated their readiness to help with naval HQ though that isn't necessary so far the Nigerian navy was aware of their presence in Nigeria's EEZ. It could have also been that it was NN that got the information first and knowing there is a naval vessel close to the scene inform the Russians and solicit for their help. There are videos and pictures of the NN doing something similar on this thread. NN has also rescued vessels outside of Nigeria's EEZ several times.

You completely digressed.

I responded to the false misinformation that the rescue did not take place within Nigerian territorial waters, very simple and concise.

You have created a series of questions and retorts that have absolute ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the subject l addressed.

Okay, apologies. Thought I saw a post from someone questioning the capabilities of NN and why it had to be Russians doing what they should be doing or something like that. Sorry for mixing it up.

No fewer than 20 operatives of Nigeria security agencies have been reportedly butchered in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State and bodies set ablaze by the notorious bandits operating in the state.

DAILY POST gathered that the security operatives were sent to a village where bandits have been ravaging for a long time without any security stoppage.

It was gathered that bandits ambushed the security operatives, killed scores of them and set the corpses on fire in the early hours of Friday.

Among the victims was Alhaji Shehu Mallami, a resident of the community.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Aminu Mary confirmed the incident, saying that the state commandant of the corps had already left to the scene to ascertain what really happened.

What do u need IFV for against bandits ..
The NE is probably the sole reason those apcs where bought... And have seen any st1 deployed elsewhere other than the NE...
i ask these questions, because u contend deployment of 6 vehicles accross Nigeria forgetting in total they were bought for the NE
Besides no matter how unenlightened our army is painted, they surely know what they intend those vehicles for... This is their job for God sake...

You say no need of IFV against deadly Bandits that shot down expert pilots flown NAF Alpha Jet with anti-aircraft guns recently, attacked and overun a whole army FOB in Mutumji, Dansadau Zamfara killed half a platoon of special forces & mechanized troops, looted base armoury, destroying NA APC types like this MOWAG Pirahna 6x6 APC.

Bandits have grown power that ordinary APC with 12.7mm cannot stop them once they strike full force. Army chief of staff General Yahaya rushed there weeks ago by himself to see!

To be replying some people here is just a waste of time. Better I find better things to do with my club, we have game to play.

If an IFV were to get stuck in the same manner as this APC, would it not be abandoned by troops? Would the bandits not have all the time they need to burn it down? When that happens, will you then start clamoring for the deployment of tanks to kill individual bandits? When the opportunity arises for the bandits and they get to burn a tank, what other platform would you advise the military go for?

What particular armor do these bandits operate that 12.7mm or 14.5mm won't penetrate? These guys practically move around with motorcycles.

Even US wasn't moving around with only IFVs in Afghanistan. Despite many r as nkls getting damaged in Iraq, humvees were still being deployed.
There is no platform the Saudis and the Emiratis haven't lost in Yemen yet they haven't stopped deploying APCs.

The bandits are everywhere at the same time and ambushes are very easy for them to execute, our poorly built bases are also contributing to the losses we are incurring.

Anytime peeps here say Nigeria lacks money, it angers me. Wallahi, Nigeria doesn't lack money. We're very bad financial managers. There is money in Nigeria.

That pic of the captured APCs are disheartening. It gives chills about the incapability of the military hierarchy.

BANDITS KILL 20 SECURITY OPERATIVES IN SHINKAFI LGA OF ZAMFARA, SET THEIR CORPSES AND PATROL VANS ABLAZE

Bandits have killed not less than 20 security operatives in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State.

Eons Intelligence gathered that the assailants ambushed a Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) convoy on Friday around Turji village, Shinkafi LGA, killed them and set their patrol vehicle ablaze.

Sources disclose that the security operatives were being deployed to an area ravaged by bandits when they were ambushed and killed. The assailants then proceeded to set the bodies of the victims ablaze after killing them

This incident comes barely 24 hours after bandits invaded Gurbin Baure community, Zurmi LGA of Zamfara in a midnight ambush on Thursday, killed four residents and rustled several animals.

Last week, armed bandits invaded Gabaken Mesa community, Kaura Namoda LGA of Zamfara, killing one person and rustling several cattle.

There has been a surge in banditry attacks in the North-West in recent weeks, notably in Zamfara State, leaving many dead and injured, properties destroyed, and cattle rustled.

This prompted the Zamfara State Government to shut all telecommunication services in the state

That pic of the captured APCs are disheartening. It gives chills about the incapability of the military hierarchy.

They've learnt from this though I still hope whoever was in charge of logistics when it happened could be jailed for life.
Subsequent videos of logistics being moved to the NE features heavy escorts. A video was circulating few days ago of trainees being moved to somewhere in the NE with air escort.

It seems the military wants to keep most of the phantom II out of the north east, most of them have been distributed to many states.
While many troops are still moving around with guntrucks in the NE, it could be that they are planning on deploying a separate platform to the frontlines.

The American Bradley has the same form factor with a BMP. Uparmored, RWS and all the other shebang.

If R&D was a thing for Nigeria, we could have effective 'battle taxis' without breaking the bank.

Anytime peeps here say Nigeria lacks money, it angers me. Wallahi, Nigeria doesn't lack money. We're very bad financial managers. There is money in Nigeria.

Honestly thought it was just me. Who lacks money? Nigeria?

I hope so. Many of the blunders we committed in this war, have been committed already in the Civil war. For example, the Abagana Ambush and Oguta lake debacle. We keep repeating our mistakes. I just hope, swears, we can only hope that we will improve.

Exactly, Nigeria does not lack money. Nigeria lacks leadership, accountability, management, transparency, quality followership and criticism.
Nigeria is killing itself slowly and painfully.
