LAGOS DESERVES A HUSBAND TOO!

Since the return of Nigeria to civil rule in 1999, Lagos has been a troubled spinster for about 16 years since then. Despite possessing the allure and virtually everything a man could wish for in a lady, talk of beyonce's kind of endowment, in full proportions and in all ramifications too, Lagos has pathetically remained the proverbial spinster by virtue of being an opposition state in the political configuration of Nigeria.

What could be wrong with cute Lagos? Why should the most qualified lady, the poster girl of infrastructural development in Nigeria, the most cosmopolitan belle of our time, the paragon of beauty still remain a spinster for 16 solid years? Why? Why? Why? You should ask questions.

True to the saying that the patient dog eats the fattest bone, Lagos' dire search for a befitting husband has come to end with the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria's President-elect. Of all the past Presidents Nigeria has had since 1999, none boasts the credentials of Buhari. Buhari and Lagos; supply meets demand, opportunity meets preparedness. Lagos has found a worthy husband!!!

Let's marry off Lagos to the center. Help Lagos wed Buhari by voting Ambode (APC) as Governor of Lagos State on Saturday April 11. It is the most anticipated wedding of the Year. Don't miss out on this opportunity. It is an open invite. Every one is welcome. An opportunity once lost may never be regained. Lagos should be aligned with the centre so we Lagosians in particular and Nigerians in general can enjoy the impact of the relationship in our lives. Lagos is the melting pot of cultural, tribal, racial and religious diversity. Matter of fact, Lagos is Nigeria and Nigeria is Lagos. It is the place everyone calls home. Everyone is welcome. You can testify to that.

Who was there for you when Ebola struck? Who was there when the Iju Plane crash happened? Who lights up Federal roads at night? Which state is more homely than Lagos in Nigeria? These were questions recently asked by Gov Fashola.

Ask yourself a question: would you like the administrative incompetence demonstrated by the outgoing Fed Govt administration to be replicated in Lagos? Would you like thugs to take over the streets of Lagos and harass motorists-you and me just the way OPC did a few days to the Presidential election of March 28?

If you are still entertaining any doubt, consider the man hours you lose in traffic every day. The 27km Blue line Lagos Light Rail project which will solve Lagos' traffic problems with 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina is nearing completion, and will be launched this December 2015 if there's Fed Govt's support. The Eko Atlantic project, the Ilubirin Housing Project, numerous Lagos HOMS residential projects across the length and breadth of Lagos which we are all witnesses to are happening in our time. Do you want to throw away all of these by voting a party that will cancel the projects because if they are completed, the credit will go to APC only because 'it was an APC project'? Let's not retrogress. Lagos must move forward. Please do not leave certainty for uncertainty; let’s not leave experience for experiment.

After the Blue line, the Red line from Alagbado to Marina via Iddo and MMIA will follow. The Green line from Marina to Lekki will come next. The Yellow line from Otta to Iddo next, the Purpule line from Redeem to Ojo, the Orange line from Redeem to Marina, the Brown line from Mile 12 to Marina. By 2017, the whole of Lagos would be serviced by speed light rail. You can keep your cars at home, save repairs and maintenance costs, fuelling expenses and so on and drive you cars on weekends only. Not again will you be waylaid by thugs on the roads at night; no more cases of rapes and so on. These ambitious projects cannot be completed by Lagos state alone. Lagos needs Fed Government’s support. Lagos also needs the FG to part-finance the construction of the 4th Mainland bridge.

If Lagos could achieve so much in the last 16 years despite a string of four (1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011) consecutive heartaches and scuttled wedding proposals, would you want to rob this babe of the golden opportunity to wed GMB (Federal Govt). Let's align Lagos with the center for the first time since 1999. Let's not be caught on the wrong side of history.

There's only one way to ensure all these dreams are actualized. And it is by voting Akinwunmi Ambode, APC for Governor, Lagos State. Vote for the continuity of these projects. Without a doubt, you can tell that this anticipated wedding would be a mutually beneficial and rewarding one for all of us. It would be enchanting bliss all the way.

Come Saturday April 11, come out in droves and thumbprint APC on the ballot. Vote for continuity of the current infrastructural developments that we are are witnessing in Lagos.
Eko o ni baje, is not by rhetorics. If you have ever said it, if you like it, if you desire it, it is time to put it to action. Lagos loves you and will always do. It is your home. It is just unfortunate Lagos has to wed now. And Buhari is the eligible bachelor. Lagos cannot double-date. Let Lagos feel like a woman for the first time in 16 years. This wedding is long overdue.

VOTE Akinwunmi Ambode for Governor of Lagos.
VOTE APC!!!
