10 Things That Can Break APC by Nobody: 10:57am On Apr 15, 2015
The candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Major.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, won the presidential election after three failed attempts. This time, he proved millions of Nigerian wrong that: It was not possible to unseat an incumbent president.

The election has been won, right now expectations are high, and Nigerians and the rest of the world are expectant of the CHANGE. In view of this, some certain things may drag the party into horrible fall if it failed in some aspects.

These are the 10 things that can break and tear APC apart:

1) IF PDP DECAMPEES ARE GIVEN PRIORITY OVER THE LOYAL MEMBERS OF APC

We have all seen how the hurricane has affected the once ruling party, PDP, before and after it lost the presidential election. Some of the PDP decampees were heavyweights in their party. If Buhari gives these people more priority than APC loyal members, the party will begin to have problem.

2) IF APC DERAILS FROM ITS 100-DAY MANIFESTOES IN OFFICE

During electioneering campaign, we have seen and heard manifestoes; things that would be carried out within the 100 days of Buharis government in office, any attempt to fail in fulfilling those promises will make people to begin to doubt other programmes of the party.

3) IF CORRUPTION PERSISTS UNDER BUHARI GOVERNMENT

Everyone has adjudged Buhari to be the an incorruptible leader. They cited his military government as preference. But this is a democratic setting where more than three political formed alliance. Some of the leaders who were instrumental to the merger would have their take. It means Buhari may have to soften pedal in his strict anti-graft believe.

Not just that, some of the people Buhari is surrounded with are not holy. Hands of some of them are not clean, so how will Buhari fight corruption headlong? And if it failed in this aspect, the downfall of the party is just some years away.

4) IF THE GOVERNMENT IS WASTEFUL

For APC to prove to the rest of the world that it is capable to govern Nigeria, it must do something different from PDP ways. And that is been prudent. If it is wasteful like PDP, it will lose credibility, and it may lead to its downfall.

5) IF BUHARI CLAMPDOWN ON THE PRESS

Pen is mightier than the sword, so they say. Initial fear of some of the Nigerian media guru were the record Buharis military rule had with them during his reign as the military head of state in the 80s. Any attempt to exhibit the same toga of unfriendly media relation will cost APC government.

The fact that some media houses were used to vigorously campaign against Buhari before election does not mean he should pay them back in their own coin when he assumed office. Any attempt to do that will eventually lead to the downfall of his government.

6) IF APC DOES NOT DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT FROM PDP

Change was the slogan. Change goes beyond shouting it, or hymning it, people want to see and feel the change in all ramifications. Change is a very heavy burden on the incoming president. If the people who have been under PDP poverty-laden government cannot feel and see any change, APC may begin to have problem too. It is just a matter of time.

7) IF BUHARI GOVERNMENT MARGINALIZE SOME PARTS OF THE COUNTRY

One thing politicians must realise is that: Everybody cannot vote for you. It was obviously glaring that the election was between the highly polluted North and sparsely populated Southern part of Nigeria. The north carried the day. Buhari must not use this as a parameter to share the national cake.

But Buhari must give everybody, every part of the country the freedom to belong and support whatever party they believe in.

He should exhibit the spirit of justice, fairness, equity, equality, and oneness. South south and south east are already crying of marginalization even when Buhari is yet to assume office. Buhari must therefore be fair to all.

cool IF BUHARI BRINGS ISLAMIC AGENDA

Some Christians have been fearful of Buhari because of his islmic body language, but I tell people: It is not easy to Islamise Nigeria by a man under a democratic government.

I looked at my pastor in the face disdainfully in one of the church services when he said we should pray against anybody that is planning to Islamise Nigeria. That is not possible! For Gods sake! It is all political propaganda of PDP. However, it is a good thing for Buhari to set him on the right path of governance.

9) IF APC MEMBERS WORK AGAINST BUHARI
You know why someAPC members could work against Buhari? If he, Buhari, does not give some of the financial parasites among them to swallow public funds they will try to frustrate his government.

10) If APC members see Buhari victory as an opportunity to rake in money they expended during electioneering campaign.

As expectations are, I believe Nigerians need to give Buhari time to settle down in office, study things for himself before starting to work. We must not forget that it is not easy to work on things you are yet to critically study.
