On 8th August 2002, Security Forces brutalized grass root women of the Niger Delta during a peaceful demonstration at the gates of Shell Nigeria and Chevron / Texaco. The women were demanding to dialogue with the management of the Multinational Companies to discuss the following amongst others;

1. The Multinational Companies' lack of respect for their environment in particular, the women were demanding an end to Gas Flaring;
2. An end to the irresponsible chemical waste disposal that has devastating effect on htier quality of health.
3. The location of harmful chemical stations within their community (Ijala in Warri - Delta State).
4. The refusal of the Multinational companies to employ the husbands and sons of the Niger Delta in order to reduce the rate of unemployment and hence, a reduction in the rate of absolute poverty level in the Niger Delta.

The women were bravely calling on the Shell and Chevron/Texaco to recognise their rights as their "host comminities" and to dialogue directly with them instead of through individuals posing as their agents.

The women were adamant as to what they wanted from the Multinational companies.
The women were eager to exercise their rights under the many United Nationas Resolutions, which recognise the need and the rights of women to engage in Conflict Resolution. (UN Security Resolution 1325 (2000) and the Beijin Platform for Action (1995) of which Nigeria is signatory).

Thats Nigerian government is at 'WAR" with the people of the Niger Delta is without a doubt.

Before the 2003 elections, the youths had no small arms. Thus, like the youths in August 1998 if aggrieved the youths carried sticks. All of that changed when for the 2003 elections, small arms were imported into Nigeria and the Niger Delta in particular.

After the 2003 elections in Nigeria, AK47's became available to unemployed youths including 'area boys" for the purposes of ensuring that individuals already in political postions stayed in those political positions.

Nigeria is a country in contradictions. On the one hand, some political office holders take "Oath" to protect and uphold the supremacy of the Constritution and engage in activities that undermine the Constitution they swore to uphold?

Why is Niger being governed by people who swear with the Bibe in the one hand, go to Chrines to make others take oath of allegiance to them?

In 2004, a human part market was uncovered in Delta State. It is alleged that the market had existed under Otokutu Bridge near Warri for over 12 years. This was a market where the skull of a child was priced at N250,000. Although those found to be running the human part market were apprehended by civil society, no one prosecuted for their criminal activities in the state.

A funny friend of mine in Jacksonville FL, after winning DV-Lottery and gained his citizenship in just this few years, mailed me and was asking "Why are Niger Deltans claiming they are suffering"? I had to reply him that do you think is through? Even as soon as we all Niger Deltans abroad felt all our poeple are not suffering, then we have to rethink!.

Nigerian Administration celebrate its creation of "foreign reserves" while the majority of the Nigerian people are living in absolute poverty level. Relatives living in the Diaspora provide food for the majority of people living in Nigeria.

Tempers are running high amongst the hungry masses of the region that is so rivh and yet so poor.

As the plan to "Kill" the region progresses unabated, the masses will respond in unpredicted manner.

Curbing Restiveness in the Niger Delta will be "wishful thinking" if the inhumanity of the Nigerian State and the Multinational Companies against the people of the Nigeri Delta carries on.

Freedom is never gotten on the platter of gold, as long as some individuals hold the people of the Niger Delta in a state of 'constant war' while denying them the right to be respectable human beings, their struggle for survival will continue and intensify.

The South African fought for thier freedom at the face of dangers, Many died but the struggle continued until they became free and became recognised as citizens in their own country.

Revenue flowng from the oil wealth of the Niger Delta should be deployed to meet the needs of the people of the Niger Delta, the region that is laying the golden egg.

Pleaase try read my thread on Project Delta State.

Long live Niger Delta.

From my observation, recent incinuations by the MEND that the Federal Govt. of Nigeria doesnt heed to the yearnings and aspirations of the Niger Delta region is nothing but CHEAP FALSIFICATION OF FACTS and a BLATANT DECEIT BY A SELFISH FEW TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE GENERAL POPULACE. I dare anyone who thinks same to explain the BASIS for the 13% DERIVATION PAID TO ALL THE STATES WITHIN THE NIGER DELTA REGION.

N.B. I wouldnt be suprised if a vast majority of landers do not have reasonable idea as to the quantum of money the derivations have grossed to date. For those who care to know, check up the ministry og finance or office of the accountant general websites for the monthly revenue allocations to all the 3 tiers of government for all the states in the federation and take proper note of the figures under derivation. This those not even consider allocations of excess crude oil revenue.

Where is Mr Anyone? As long as the leadership is not responsible or accountable to the people who by the way did not elect them, Nigeria will continue to slip into anarchy where everyone does what seems right in his/her opinion and that includes all the entities, the military, mend, militants, criminals, kidnappers, politicians, pastors, cultists, etc, etc, etc

Nigeria arrests 22 Filipinos over stolen oil: army

Nigeria has arrested 22 Filipinos for allegedly stealing 12,500 metric tonnes of crude from the oil-producing south, the army said Saturday.
"The foreign vessel, MT Kua, was about leaving Nigerian territorial waters when it was intercepted last night by a joint patrol of the navy and the army on Warri river," an army spokesman said.He said the Filipionos would be prosecuted soon.Theft of crude oil from the Niger Delta by armed gangs, pirates and their foreign collaborators costs Nigeria millions of dollars in lost revenue every year.In July, the Nigerian navy arrested 14 Filipinos in a foreign vessel, MT Lina Panama, which was laden with stolen crude, as they were leaving Nigerian waters.The Nigerian navy recently launched a new offensive against the theft of oil, widely referred to locally as "bunkering", as millions of litres of crude or refined petroleum products are stolen annually by suspected "bunkerers".Oil accounts for more than 95 percent of Nigeria's foreign exchange earnings.Nigeria is among Africa's largest oil producers, exporting some two million barrels of crude per day, but the industry is prey to organised gangs of heavily-armed criminals who tap pipelines and siphon off tonnes of crude.
Smugglers sell an estimated 100,000 barrels per day to unscrupulous foreign refineries. The multi-million dollar profits from the trade have fed an arms race among pirate gangs and ethnic militias who ply the waterways of the Niger Delta.

The United States Congress’s Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission heard a testimony about the negative environmental impacts of oil operations in the Niger Delta; including those of multinational oil giant Royal Dutch/Shell in the Ogoni region of the Niger Delta.

our problems and shtook are best understood by us,if you nullify the wishes of the
niger deltans basically and attend to that of our leaders and greedy elites,then we are surely and strongly giong to
repudiate their policies,rules and regulations,that is chaos will abide instead of peace and we will definitely fight for liberation from the chains of our bad leaders and nigeria as a whole.and the militants they should be fighting for something promising that is unending in it's fruitfulness and not going about kidnapping the wrong people
for their selfish interest.i suggest that the only way out of this peril is forming an autonomous federation which could be called the (USND) unified states of the niger delta or better still the niger delta republic.
