It depends on what you really mean by IQ.

Some people with very high IQ are even trying to lower it because of the environment they stay. So they can relate and understand their neighbours. grin


You asked for IQ improving activities not food or other remedies so I'll stick to that. smiley
If you want to improve your IQ, try these activities:

-GAMES. Play video games that requires you to multi-task and pay attention to more than one object. Eg. Mortal Kombat, Soccer and Adventure games.

-ARGUMENT. Engage in rigorous arguments with different kinds of people both in your field of study and in other fields too. Trust me, one hour of argument per day for two weeks will greatly improve your IQ.

-MOVIES. Watch movies that improves IQ and challenges you to think. Watch historicals, sci-fi etc.

-STUDY. Study books. Google. Encyclopedia. Dictionary. Ask questions etc..Just ensure to learn at least one thing per day.

-BE OPEN MINDED. Never say never. Give everything the benefit of the doubt. Test all things. Be ever willing to learn.

-STAY TRUTHFUL. Especially to yourself.

-YOUR COMPANY. Surround yourself with people of high IQ. But never feel inferior. Argue with and learn from them.

I had a friend. This guy is very vast in many areas of human knowledge. He will never tell you or teach you anything unless you argue a topic with him. So in order to learn from him and tap from his wealth of knowledge, I'll just give him enough food (Eba his best), then sit him down and start arguing with him on various topics. It worked like magic.

stop watching porn
stop self servicing
do exercise, if youre working in a company make it everyweekend, if ure on ur own do it everyday, i repeat everyday
stay away from girls except your girlfriend
register for a course or read more article, read read and read. come to nairaland to read. read anything readable

you ll be surprised after a month

as for me, i turned to an addicted gym freak and my self esteem is out of here

Do not limit eagerness of " wanting to know" to a particular scope. get involved in random activities, and study beyond your limits.

Iron sharpeneth iron, associate with people who are good orators and highly informed. I always watch hard talk on BCC news and other CNN presenters like wolf blitz, christinna amanpour, Richard quest , kristi lu stout etc. Cut yourself off Nolly Wood programmes - they drain you intellectually instead enjoy discovery channels and national geographic

Brain exercises - Take different random aptitude tests online from time to time. Check solutions, if available, to questions you answered incorrectly to help you understand the logic.
Also play strategy games.

Be in the know - Read extensively. Form a habit of reading more than just overviews, read entire articles.

Make intelligent friends. You subconsciously mirror people you frequently associate with. You must have friends who stimulate you intellectually and friends who challenge you intellectually. Choose quality over quantity.
You should also have few friends whom you stimulate and challenge intellectually as well. When you have people who look up to you, you challenge yourself.

Take your time - take time to analyze before responding. It's not about how quick you are to respond but how witty your response/ comeback is.

Give your brain and body more downtime. Stress and fatigue can adversely affect your IQ

Watch less Nigerian movies esp yorubawood movies. Some of the storylines are so silly and predictable, they reduce your IQ.

I believe that, if iQ is to be boosted, what a person eats is paramount. If what you eat doesn't help your brain to function well, then iq will decline. Second to this is reading.. If you read good books it boosts your level of thinking and analytical capacity cos you will be saying what you know.

Quezi is spot on in her response. Exercise increases blood flow to all organs in the body and research has indeed proved that exercise contributes to IQ development and high self esteem (which in a way is related to IQ)
take more of cod liver oil (it contains essential fatty acids for cerebral development)
Read more (you can't give what you don't have)
Learn to meditate (it helps you think things through, it's also good for problem solving)
Learn to see things from different ramifications (open minded people are always improving themselves and thus appear smart)
Lastly, try to make yourself happy. Depression diminishes IQ
