In case of parapet, yes the house needs columns. By just looking at the soil, this is a solid land. On a general note, we tend to overbuild in Nigeria these days. I know some homes built with mud in my village that are still standing strong after 65 years. We tend to overbuild and waste money these days. The house I currently live is brick house from top to bottom with no single lintel or column. Imagine it is not a one floor home. The house was built in 2011 and I expect it to be the same in 200 year's time - if I'm still around. grin grin grin

@FastShipping you are more than right about our overbuild in Nigeria... Yes, most of those mud house are still standing in the village for centuries.
But sometimes lets not be stingy on those pillars, they are good for bungalow too and required for Duplex. We don't use materials that will make our building stand for too long like the Obodo houses and we lack maintenance too.. and just looking at soil will not tell you much.
Look at the new building Spyder is starting on another thread.. if you look at the surface you will think the soil is good... until Spyder started digging and within 3 feet it has turned into water well.
In summary, erecting columns (pillars) don't cost too much. I just did about 20 pillars and I think the cost is just around N200k.
I like pillars for any building, they make building sturdy when done well and right.

We have Started the Construction of a 3 Bedroom Bungalow.

The Client is a Nairalander.

We Begin by Getting Borehole(water) and this borehole was done in 1day.

Oga Segzy14, do you have any idea about the cost of a full plot of land in this part of Karshi, and what's the cost of the borehole? If you don't mind.

A full plot of land is about 2.5million naira and the cost of the borehole is about 500k which includes the piping and the submersible pump,with a one year guarantee.
