Good Nigerian Restaurant In New York, New Jersey Or Philadelphia. by onyxhawk(m): 10:32pm On Sep 10, 2006
- Anyone know any good restaurants or just somewhere to buy some good naija food - in the area around New York, New Jersey or Philadelphia?

I have recently developed a craving for well made naija food and I don't want to cook myself. Yes, I know it would be cheaper to cook it myself assuming I can do a good job, but I still don't want to cook.

I found one place, it is a little bit of a drive for me, called 'African Kitchen' in Central Jersey.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
PS. I hear there is one in Staten Island and/or Orange, New Jersey.

Thers are lots of African Markets around, look hard enough and you'll find one or ask any nigerians you know that's living in New York.

My boyfriend goes to either: Odudua Lounge & Restaurant - 513 Central Avenue in Newark or Odabro African Restaurant on 132 South Essex Avenue in East Orange, NJ. They both have take-out, or you can eat there, on weekends they have either a band or music, with dancing. My preference is Odabro but he likes either of those spots, and he knows the food better than I. There is also a place in Bloomfield, NJ and I will try to find out the name but is on Bloomfield Avenue.

Hope this helps you. Where is the restaurant you found in central NJ? That is where I live and we are searching for a place here so, we don't have to drive up north all the time.

There are a ton of good nigerian restaurants in new york.  I forget the name of the one I am thinking of but it is on the corner of 36th and Wall right near the USBank building.  Also, I'd try some of the New York Hotels that are nearby, or call your concierge and ask him where some good places are.

The tastiest food is at Mirage restaurant. Try their designer rice. I have eaten in many of the nigerian restaurant, but none is as tasty as this place. Also try their suya, it's matchless. I went there with my friends and we were not disappointed. you 'll definitely remember the authentic taste of real home cooking. It's really a place to savor the best of fresh fish, pounded yam and egusi soup. Definitely a place I visit when I long for home meals.
