Jonah will make sure that Buhari's first two years will do nothing other than to pay debts. You see why this man called GEJ is devil's incarnate.

The same amount borrowed is in the various private accounts of our worthless corrupt leaders.

Its the northern APC leaders who stole and their "homeboy" and mentor was non other than Sani Abacha.

The south-south and south east leaders are clean as snow.

And this is the rubbish Buhari is inheriting............ Personally, I'm giving our President-elect 2 years before I start criticising his government while awaiting the fools that will talk rubbish before then.

What exactly did you do with the excess money generated when oil prices was above $100 to a barrel ? You Are the one that told us that we had nothing to worry about . Please remember Greece when you go to borrow more next month .
BTW, What is the interest rate of this loan and for how long will we borrow?

Just imagine! Don't you think humanity should waste these thieving leaders by jailing them and by throwing their cell keys into the lagoon?

Corruption is the bane of Nigeria. We shall not progress if 'corruption' is not nipped in the bud.

Diversification of the economy, cuts in government salaries/emoluments etc, self-sufficiency in oil production nd consumption should solve all these problems.
This government have only been clueless, shortsighted nd useless from the beginning, even from the scandalous amount spent on reelection bid. If such(reelection) had come to pass, the economy nd Nigeria future would have been bleak one .

Nigeria haa not learnt at all. Untill we realise that we are a poor country with an underperforming economy we won't move very fast. Truth is we have to generate more income both at federal level and especially at the state level. how? not by increasing tax but by vigorously producing products of different kinds and selling them in order to earn. In other words we have to do business as a nation or state. until we do that state will keep having problems paying salaries when the national income dwindles.

Sometimes you wonder if the Nigeria. Youth reads to understand or read to comment, there is provision for borrowing, they used part of it. We should question why they used that much and not all the gibberish the unlearned youths are spewing here. Even the US borrows and more heavily too.

That notwithstanding, the government is sick and so will be the incoming. Too much politics!

Nigeria should have follow the footstep of countries like Emirate and diversify long time ago. Oil prices will hover around $60, as any increase will be stopped before it gets off, due to fracking. So Nigeria better start investing in Agriculture, education and Tech start up companies like India and others are doing.
Oh.. subsidy should be stopped. Anybody with a common sense know this is now unsustainable.
Edit. Electricity should be among the main agenda, as it is one of the biggest reason foreign investors are not coming into the country.

While I agree that we need to diversify the economy, there is nothing spectacular that Emirates did that has made them to keep their head above the water other than robust management of their earnings. Our problem has been the looting of our earnings with reckless abandon.

There is always a provision to borrow but NOT for paying salaries or other recurrent expenditures.

Borrowing such a huge sum of money for salaries and overheads! Epic mismanagement of resources.

These folks are not smart at all. Couldn't commonsense tell them with falling oil prices should come reduced salaries and allowances?

Are other oil exporting countries also crying over falling prices ?

Our leaders are to be blamed, 16 years of democracy we are still in the past. DIVERSIFY THE ECONOMY PLS !!!!!

For now it is a good feeling that this JONATHAN has been voted out by Nigerians but the messes he is going to leave might make governance hell for the incoming.

I believe with good management, there should be other sources of generating revenue to move us forward even if it is just ELECTRICITY and SECURITY during APC's first term.

And again, buhari should be able to generate billions of dollars by recouping billions of dollars looted, starting from JONATHAN himself and others.

Top of the range clueless, insensitive, cruel human being that raise inpunity, tribalism, corruption, religion partisan to the highest level since independence.

No need to mention HIS name .. lol
listen to international news. Not nairaland news and u will discover that they cry more than us.

My brother, you're right. Power/energy is the main issue in this country. Our government should give more attention to Renewable Energy. They should also build more fossil-fuel based power stations. We ought to utilise more of our oil to power our industries and homes, since export prices are now very low. This would increase productivity and prosperity in this country, because there is a direct relationship between energy usage and development.

We need to first ask of what happened to all the billions we earned?

We need to worry about the fact that Nigeria is the only OPEC member affected by the drop in crude price.
