Fayose Orders Verification Of 48,977 Ekiti Workers by dridowu: 9:52pm On May 10, 2015
As part of measures to rid the public service of ghost workers, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has ordered the verification of the over 48, 977 workers in the state’s payroll.
The governor made this known through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.
The verification, said the governor, is meant to block the over N500 million being lost monthly by the government through the e-payment system contracted by the immediate past administration, to a private firm.
Mr. Fayose, however, directed that the April salary be paid as workers are verified, adding that the exercise was not meant to delay payment of wages in the state.
“Those insinuating that the verification exercise was meant to delay payment of April salary are
just playing cheap politics because the arrangement is such that the moment verification is concluded on daily basis, salary of those cleared will be paid,” Mr. Fayose said.
“The implication of this is that those verified on Tuesday, May 12, will receive their April salary on Wednesday, May 13, while those verified on Wednesday will get paid on Thursday. By Friday, May 14, seventy percent of the workers would have received their April salary.”
Giving details of how the exercise will be carried out, Mr. Olayinka said staff of core Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, will be verified from May 12. Staff of the state’s Health Management Board and six local government areas would also be verified on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The six local councils to be verified on Tuesday and Wednesday include Ado, Efon, Ekiti East, Ekiti South West, Moba and Oye while staff of Ise/Orun, Ikere, Emure, Ekiti West, Ido/Osi, Ikole, Ilejemeje and Irepodun/Ifelodun, Gbonyin and Ijero would take their turn on Thursday and Friday.
Also to be verified on Thursday and Friday are staff of the Local Government Training School, Local Government Service Commission, Loans Board and Pension Board, as well as primary school teachers in Ado, Efon, Ekiti East, Ekiti South West, Ekiti West, Emure, Gbonyin, Ido/Osi local councils. Others include staff of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB and Local Government Education Authority, LGEA.
On May 16 and May 18, primary school teachers in Ijero, Ikere, Ikole, Ilejemeje, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ise/Orun, Moba and Oye local governments, as well as all secondary school teachers in the state
would go through the verification process.

Of course at d end of d day ghost workers would be found,as almost every administration does.
But the question is this:if Fayose claims this has nothing to do with scheming not to pay workers, why wasn't this verification carried out before d end of April?
Fayose would soon confess on d dire state of Ekiti's finances and his administration of d state by d time d peoples eyes are cleared of d mist he has beclouded them with.

Short STORY:

A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands.
Her mum came in and softly asked her little daughter with a smile: my sweetie, could you give your mum one of your two apples?
The girl looked up at her mum for some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple, and then quickly on the other.
The mum felt the smile on her face freeze. She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment.
Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her mum,and said: mummy, here you are. This is the sweeter one.

No matter who you are, how experienced you are, and how knowledgeable you think you are, always delay judgement. Give others the privilege to explain themselves. What you see may not be the reality. Never conclude for others.

hate or love him, though he has his flaws; he puts the welfare of his people first, and ensures that Ekiti people never regret voting him. APC will hardly have a way in that state. Most of their governors are owing more than six months salary.
