How UI Student Died - VC by clara472: 9:00pm On May 13, 2015
The Vice-Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Isaac Adewole has said, contrary to claims that the death of Mr. Mayowa Alaran, a student of the institution who slumped while watching a football match, was due to inefficiency of the health centre, Mayowa died before he was conveyed to the university health centre. Alaran’s death had last Thursday triggered protests by students of the institution who alleged that inefficiency in the institution’s healthcare system caused his death.

Prof Adewole, while giving a vivid account of Mayowa's death said the deceased showed no vital signs while being moved from the vehicle into the University health centre. The VC further said, the Nurse-on-duty joined by the Doctor on duty promptly attended to the student and observed that vital signs were absent and continued resuscitation efforts. He was later certified dead after there were no signs.
