Unilag Department of Early Childhood Education gets her first 1st Class Graduate.
Toyibbah Olabisi Sebili, a beautiful young lady who hails from Lagos State appears shy and timid to people that are not close to her, is a graduate of University of Lagos (Unilag).
But Sebili, as she is fondly called by students and lecturers alike is anything but shy, in fact she was involved in so many activities in the school, chief amongst which is student unionism. She was an elected Honorable member of Nigerian Universities Education Students Association (NUESA) Unilag Chapter.
What is amazing about this young lady is that despite all these extra-curricular activities, she was able to graduate with a 1st Class in Early Childhood Education, the first in her department and the only one Faculty of Education produced at this year graduation ceremony held last week Tuesday, 28th April 2015 at Unilag Auditorium.
There were cheers and shouts of joy and recognition from her fellow students each time her name was called and as she stands up to receive handshakes from the pro-chancellor of the institution. She was among those that were offered automatic employment by the institution.
Her proud parents were there to witness history been mage not just in her department but also in her family.
When asked what motivates her, she said she love to study. She also mentions that she cares about youngsters, women and educational development. She says her passion for social economic development led her drive to be involved in students’ union activities in the institution as well as trading part time to keep the mind and soul together.
When asked what next and if she will accept the institution’s offer of automatic employment, she replied “that’s under wraps for now”.
