We haven’t seen the last of Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, (Mama Taraba) as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at last month Taraba governorship election is bent on
not giving in despite her defeat at the poll.

According to a report by Daily Trust, Sen. Alhassan has filed a petition at the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jalingo, challenging the victory of the governor-elect, Arc. Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the Senator representing Taraba North constituency of Taraba State, the outcome of last month governorship election in the state is not the true reflection of Taraba people.

Speaking with newsmen, shortly after submitting her petition to the Tribunal Secretary, Alaba Ariyo, Senator Alhassan debunked the rumours that she had stepped down her determination of going to the tribunal after being settled with a ministerial slot by
Gen. Muhammadu Buhari after pictures of her and the president-elect surfaced last week.

According to her, the rumour was only a plan orchestrated by the PDP to deceive the public.

She said it totally unbelievable to hear such rumours when the government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari was yet to be inaugurated.

However, expressing great confidence of getting justice at the Tribunal, she said there were “glaring evidence and facts” to prove that she won the governorship election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Darius Ishaku winner of the Taraba governorship election after polling aggregate votes of 369,318 as against Aisha Alhassan’s 275,984.
