The university of Ilorin, also known as unilorin was established by a decree of the federal military government in 1975, located in Ilorin, Kwara state. The university began as an affiliated college in 1975 under the leadership of the then principal Dr T.N Tamuno.
From three faculties in 1976. The university now have 12 faculties: agriculture, art, basic medical sciences, business and social science, clinical sciences, information sciences, education, engineering and technology, law, pharmaceutical sciences, sciences and vetenary medicine.
