A dime will I not share with my hommies.
Less I be a less moneyed than I am
Mummy say there is no more with her also.
Yummy glare spreading all over her and us.
And the Tummy food becoming the most nutritious. So
That our Tummy bulge for lack of nutrition.
And our Dummy fellows harbour the fear of contrition.
Lest another Tummy adds to ours to cry in hunger.

Daddy complains that he earns less than he gives out.
Blaming his employers as though they wronged him
By making him share with suffering of their rationed bits.
Picking a quarrel with one or two, we all share in the hit.
And yet we hear the sound of the money flow.
And in our eyes, with thick tears we watch as
Wands of the notes seem to be always far away
And yet we hear that they belong all to us.

Even the hungry teachers tell us of our wealth.
Telling gory tales of pure coals and gold mined.
Making grimace of their face as they recall the white faces
Who exchanged our rich oil with hate-causing dollars
Failing to tell us that the dollars were meant for a few.
The oil,no doubt belongs to all of us.
But the dollar we all see, belongs to privileged few.

If only I would be given my minstrel's seat,
I would like to sing shamefully of a proud nation
Whose wealth can make all its people rich.
But whose in the opposite makes them poorer
Showing gory sights of brooding rich fellows
Strapping poor children on weak breaking bones
Wishing as I do today to be given a dime.
And hoping to pay back if they get to the top.

With special dedication to all who seek genuine change in Nigeria.
A special shout out to all the Lions and Lionesses in the house.
