Bradoria, Illinois, USA has named Professor Olatunji Dare, a communication scholar, author, satirist, famous columnist, and former Chair of The Guardian Editorial Board, Emeritus Professor of Communication. Bradley University President, Glasser in her letter informing Dare of the honour said, she hoped that Dare in retirement would remain in close contact with the university and participate in its affairs wherever and whenever possible.

Professor Dare who served as Chair of the Editorial Board and Editorial Page Editor for The Guardian, before he was forced to flee to United States in 1996 under General Sani Abacha, taught journalism and international communication at Bradley for 19 years until his retirement last week. Before then, he taught at the University of Lagos. Dare holds a BSc (First Class Honours) from the University of Lagos, the MSJ from Columbia University, New York and a Ph.D. in communication research from Indiana University.
