The All Progressives Congress has said President
Goodluck Jonathan is handing over a nation in
deep crisis, even as his administration continues to
contrive more crises without making any effort to
solve any of them.
In a statement in Abuja on Sunday by its National
Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the
party however appealed to Nigerians not to lose
hope, despite the daunting challenges they
were currently facing in “this atmosphere of
contrived chaos”, saying help was on the way.
APC said, ”In a few days’ time, President Jonathan
will hand over to President-elect Muhammadu
Buhari. Never in the history of our country has any
government handed over to another a more
distressed country: No electricity, no fuel, workers
are on strike, billions are owed to state and federal
workers, 60 billion dollars are owed in national debt
and the economy is virtually grounded.
”Today, Nigerians are roaming the streets, jerry
cans in hand, searching for everything from
kerosene to fuel to diesel to power their homes,
keep their vehicles on the road and keep their
businesses going. They are paying as much as
300 Naira per litre for fuel, if at all they can get it.
Yet their government is not saying a word
about the situation.”
APC said while the “Jonathan administration has
arrogantly told Nigerians that it remains in office
and in power till May 29, all it has been doing was
sacking people and making new appointments as if
it has been deprived of the opportunity to do so in
the past six years.”
The incoming ruling party added, ”They are not
interested in how to end the fuel scarcity that
has paralysed the socio-economic lives of
Nigerians, they are not interested in how to raise
electricity production from its unprecedentedly-low
level of 1,327 megawatts, they are not doing
anything to end the strike by blue and while collar
oil workers, or to stop the impending one.
”They say they are in office till May 29, but they do
not care how workers in 18 states, who are owed
a total of N300bn in salaries under their watch, or
federal workers, who are owed N400bn will be
paid. Yet they are running a budget of N1tr deficit.
”They have deliberately stopped meeting their
obligations to oil marketers, which is now around
N200bn; hence, no one is lifting petroleum
products anymore. If the current energy crisis
is not solved soonest, the telecommunications
sector could even be grounded in a matter of days
as service providers will have neither electricity
nor fuel to power their base stations.
“Of course, the aviation sector has already been
left comatose by the fuel crisis. The whole
scenario reeks of sabotage!”
APC said before PDP and “Jonathan
administration’s spin doctors distort its message, it
is important to let Nigerians know that the
party (APC) is not engaging in lamentations but
simply keeping the citizenry informed of the
situation on the ground”, with just five days to
the handover date.
APC stated, ”If we thought the nation was being
well managed and there was no problem, we would
not have embarked on a campaign of change.
While we are ready, willing and able to begin to
address the mammoth challenges facing us as a
nation as soon as we assume office at the centre
in a few days’ time, we will not hesitate for a
second to keep Nigerians informed of how we have
been brought to this sorry pass, with a view to
avoiding such a tragic turn in the future.”
It expressed sadness that the nation had been on
auto pilot for the past several weeks, saying the
outgoing administration had shown neither the
capacity nor the willingness to resolve any of the
crises it had “contrived and foisted” on the nation.
”This is the most vivid manifestation of the old
saying that literally translates to a departing office
holder defecating on the chair he is vacating,” APC
said.

GEJ has been clueless 5- 6years as you all have said.

Question- Why are you all complaining about the fuel + Electricity scarcity now. When we should be rejoicing of the coming of our magician.

Is It too late for APC to just say give up? This series of excuses and complaint is getting rather boring. There is no one that takes over an office without responsibilities. During the elections the global economic recession was in full swing with crude oil prices plummetting. Buhari and all other contestants knew of this and made promises regarding this during their election campaign. No excuses, if APC can not do it it's time for them to just own up.

His incompetence, mischief and bitter heart would continue tormenting him as he tormented Nigerians with his cluelessness.
The torment would also continue as Buhari begins work and start overcoming all the contrived roadblocks put in his way to success.
If one is ordained by God and given a solemn mandate by citizens to come put them out of their misery, not even 1000x plans of d devil using a fisherman can stop one's glory.
PMB would succeed by the grace of God.

A colleague of mine once remarked that the average Nigerian parades a week old threshold memory, else some of these irritating narratives, twists, and blame games would hardly suffer audience in a serious and mature polity.

What you’ve got across the spectrum of society, is rank ignorance, gullibility, partisanship masquerading as activism, a penchant for the punitive rather than the preventive, sophomoric investments in charlatans, than in erecting stable and enduring institutions, and a general inability for self-instruction and political education.

In the events that accompanied the January, 2012 subsidy protests, many of these folks, in misdirected anger, were unaware they were lending themselves as willing tools for various shades of political and economic forces, all in what some read as a revolt against the ‘inhuman’ policies of the reforms earmarked by the Jonathan government. A carnivalesque in celebration of the vulgar, most obscene acts of perfidy, profanity, and ignorance, was show-cased during those days, with many falling themselves over for a moment on the Ojota platform to mouth their versions of hate and vituperations; and in interviews, denouncing the government- and, one of such curious and baffling interventions, was in the submission of the latest beneficiary of this aberration, the ACN/AD/CPC, Buhari et al, disavowing the science or knowledge of said subsidy.

A journey that ought to have begun 3.5 years ago, with the wholesale liberalization of the downstream sector, among other instructive sectoral reforms, like the moribund PIB legislation, paving the way for availability and profitability-buoyed by competition/market forces, and serious industry players or investments, was truncated on the altar of mob justice and political hacktivism. Same folks, who went rampage against downstream sector subsidy removals, now have begun a new song and dance, and expectedly, those with vested interests, bent on protecting their investments, are calibrating and serving the most appropriate response in this unsure political and economic atmosphere.

Head or tail, Nigerians chose today, yesterday….

Why are people still mocking the APC government, as you can see they have provided evidence and details of what damage that they have to fix.

So why are there still some ignoramuses supporting the failed government known as PDP. They should stop pretending as if they are not suffering from all the pain and havoc caused by the current administration

I'm bewildered by the nonchalance being displayed of late by this incompetent administration.

This administration has deliberately decided to leave the Nigerian economy in a state of free-fall.

As for the TANoids, who made those senseless comments above me, I honestly do not know what you lots want to see before coming to the agreement that this administration, is bereft of human sympathy towards the Nigerian plight.

While this administration has left us in topsy-turvy, TANoids are blackmailing us with our actions in 2012, when we fought against the removal of subsidy. These lots must be the only ones suffering from dementia, cause I still remember all the subsidy related scams that made headlines in the dailies. And to think all this happened for only a partial removal is another reason to be thankful we didn't yield to its complete removal.

Thank God! subsidy was not removed entirely under Jonathan. While subsidy removal is not bad from the economical standpoint, I most definitely will not entrust my barn of yams to a goat.
