Heads of Governments, Ministers and people in official positions in National or International organizations may visit the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in three different categories;

a) State
b) Official
c) Unofficial or Private

Buhari has not yet been sworn in under International norms as an official representing the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.State visits and official visits are normally at the invitation of that country's head of state, with the latter also acting as the official host for the duration of the state visit. State visits are considered to be the highest expression of friendly bilateral relations between two sovereign states, and are in general characterised by an emphasis on official public ceremonies.

The Prime Minister must be fully informed of the arrangements being made for all state or private visits and this must pass through all official protocol before being approved by the Prime minister.

Buhari stated that he visited the United Kingdom on a private capacity and we are all aware that he currently holds no official position until he takes the oath of office, so it is quite safe to refer to him as an ordinary citizen just like you and I.

The British are renowned for being very conservative in nature and tend to adhere strictly to their policies. The fact that David Cameron found time to attend to Buhari under short notice and in his capacity as an ordinary citizen lends credence to the fact the he is highly respected. This is just a case of visiting a very busy acquaintance during working hours.

We all know that Buhari turned down the use of all consular apparatus because he has not been sworn in and would rather be left alone in his personal capacity, hence it is proper to assume that his visit was not coordinated by the Nigerian High Commission in London and any visit he made in the UK was in his personal capacity.

Jonathan would NEVER be received by even a Junior minister in the UK if he dares travel in his personal capacity after May 29th. The fact that Buhari was able to casually get to Downing street in this manner before being sworn in shows that we have hope in getting the respect we have lost as a Nation.

When he is sworn in as President, we all know as they say in Nigeria " Parade go change gear"
