These Are Four Key Factors That Will Determine Buhari's Success Or Failure by abila122: 6:31pm On May 26, 2015
Nigeria’s president-elect Muhammadu Buhari will be sworn in on Friday May 29, 2015 to govern a severely ailing nation. However, the success or failure of his administration will be judged squarely on how he performs in these four critical areas below.

Corruption:
It was based solely on Buhari’s promise of running a corrupt-free government that Nigerians voted him into power. Therefore, this will be the primary yardstick Nigerians will judge the success or failure of his administration.

Security:
Owing to the abysmal failure of the Jonathan regime in fight against insurgency, subduing Boko Haram is a must for Buhari. This was also one of the cardinal promises made by the APC-led government during campaign.

Unemployment:
Being the root cause of all of Nigeria’s woes, Nigerians will be watching keenly on how Buhari will tackle this monster that has defiled past leaders since independence. Buhari will surely be judged based on this factor.

Energy:
With the current all-time low 1,327 megawatts of electricity being generated, Nigeria is currently in massive energy crisis. However, what Nigerians are keenly waiting to see is how Buhari’s APC-led government will increase power generation in the country to the 12,000 megawatts promised during campaign.

60% REDUCTION IN THE SALARIES AND ALLOWANCES OF LAWMAKERS. Analysis Of What Nigerian Legislators Earn Basic Salary (BS) = N2,484,245.50 Hardship allowance: 50% of Basic Salary = N1,242,122.75 Constituency allowance: 200% of BS = N4,968,509.00 Furniture Allowance: 300% of BS = N7,452,736.50 Newspaper allowance: 50% = N1,242,122.70 Wardrobe allowance: 25% = N621,061.37 Recess Allowance: 10% = N248,424.55 Accommodation: 200% = N4,968,509.00 Utilities: 30% = N828,081.83 Domestic Staff: 35% = N863,184.12 Entertainment: 30% = N828,081.83 Personal Assistance: 25% = N621,061.37 Vehicle Maintenance Allowance: 75% = N1,863,184.12 Leave Allowance : 10% = N248,424.55 One off payments (Severance gratuity): 300% = N7,452,736.50 Motor Vehicle Allowance: 400% of BS = N9,936,982.00 Total per month = N29,479,749.00 ($148,139.57) A senator’s annual salary = over N353, 756, 988 .00 ($1,777,674.85) Now multiply that by 109 Senators and 360 House of Representative members (don’t forget the Ministers and Ambassadors). Members of House of Representatives and Senators cost Nigeria over N76 billion on annual salaries, allowances and quarterly payments? Every member of the 54 standing Senate committee earns a monthly imprest of between N648 million and N972 million per year, while a member of the HOR earns between N35 million and N140 million as quarterly or yearly allowances. This means that 25 percent of the nation’s budget goes to the NASS and yet She has high mortality rate in women and children, insufficient healthcare delivery, poor transportation, poor electricity outage, high rate of crime, high rate of youths who are school drop-outs, unemployed or untrained. Will Nigeria ever be developed in the future when our resources are going in the wrong direction? How can they earn nearly 25% of the country’s wealth and still expect economic change.

Nigerian lawmakers will never agree to the reduction
This is where our voices need to be heard! We need to stand up with one voice and say to them 'reduce it or quit'! This way we could reduce the number of violence during elections (end do or die politics), balance inequality, fairness and justice, create room for geniue minded persons with the interest of the people at heart, elect the best of leaders who are not after our nations treasury but after the nation's and national development, leaders who are after the citizens well being both within and outside the country, leaders who can give quality representation both within and outside the country. together we can consolidate on the efforts of our heros both past and present to create a corrupt free nigeria! Let's all join the struggle to free our nations treasury from the pockets of these few persons for the benefit of the entire population!
