Immediately after the 2015 general elections in Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was pin-pointed as a potential Peace Ambassador due to his role in ensuring the peace and stability that Nigeria is enjoying today. A role that attracted a powerful world-wide recommendation from major world holders of stake like United States of America, Russia and China.

Of course, the reason for this global adoration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's attitude cannot be far-fetched. He simply made "the call that saved Nigeria" according to a BBC journalist. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan conceded defeat in the 2015 Nigerian general elections after it became conspicuous that the odds were in the favour of his close opponent, General Muhammadu Buhari. A simple act that averted crises according to the view of World observers. It was that singular act of selflessness that metamorphosed the outgoing Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to the World centre of gravity - being considered as a Global Peace Ambassador - a decision that seems to have been finalised as it has been endorsed by the powers that be.

The World is in a serious state of instability with the security of lives and property threatened by daily emergence of sophisticated warfares and ammunitions cum religious extremism. An urgent need for a world peace thus becomes sacrosanct. There cannot be peace if there is no peace ambassador. That leads to the big question: can Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the outgoing Nigerian President come May 29, 2015, stand the role of a World Peace Ambassador?

It is not enough to judge Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from the single act of concession, however, it is a very big indicator that cannot be swept under the carpet. It is an act that is so rare in the African polity. It is an act that must be celebrated and rewarded without questions. The actions of Laurent Gbagbo of Ivory coast, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Gaddafi of Lybia, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe and the present Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi who have expressed a high level of nauseating intoxication for power give reasons for Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to be crowned a Global/World peace. Ambassador.

But Goodluck Ebele Jonathan's simplicity seems overabundant. His decision-taking abilities (to me) seems to be deficient in authority. However, I do not know whether that is part of his peaceful nature; I also do not know whether such authoritative decision-making is too important in this role of 'World Peace Ambassador'.

To round it off, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan becoming a World Peace Ambassador will go a long way in putting Nigeria in limelight. It will also be a big lesson to our African leaders who are power-ridden, that leadership is not a do-or-die matter. This is a beautiful gesture that cannot be relegated to the ground. Making Goodluck Ebele Jonathan a World/global peace ambassador will not be a mistake as far as I (Oga Innocent) is concerned.
